Rent car at the Dolphin??

Isnt there a car rental place in the Dolphin resort? I am interested in picking up a car at Orlando Intl Airport, but dropping it off 2 days later at the Dolphin (staying at Beach Club). If there is a car rental place at the Dolphin, is it National Rental Car (or some other place like Avis)? I know there is some place on property called the Walt Disney Car Care Center, maybe this is what I am thinking of?

Yes there is a car rental place at the Dolphin Hotel. It is Alamo and National. I picked one up for a day trip when I stayed at BWV in May and it was so nice to be able to walk over to it.
When searching drop off places on the National website under city put in Orlando and the Dolphin rental counter should be listed so you can click on it.

The Car Care Center is located near MK. I've never used it, but I heard that they have shuttles that will pick you up at your resort to pick up a car, or return you to your resort if you are staying on property.

We'll be staying at BCV in December and we're thinking of renting a car just for a couple of days so we can have an easier time dining out at other onsite resort restaurants. Would it be easier to walk over to the Dolphin and rent from that counter or to rent from the Car Transportation Center and use their free shuttle for pick up/drop off?

I would think that since you're staying right next door to the Dolphin, it would be easier to go there to pick up a car!!! I believe their hours are 8a-4p.

Pardon my ignorance, as this will be our first stay at BCV. I'm aware that the Dolphin is next door, but the resort properties are so large that I don't have a good sense regarding the distance between the two and how long it would take for that walk to the Dolphin's lobby. Would the walk take less than 10 minutes from BCV?

It would take 5 minutes tops, and only if you're crawling then. They really are next door. Just head to the back of the resort toward the walkway along the lake, then walk to the Dolphin along that path. I did this last year when I rented a car for a day, and stayed at BC. It could not have been easier. When I dropped the car off, I simply parked in front of the Dolphin in the valet area, and a valet guy signed something in my paperwork, gave me a copy, and I left the car right there. When you go to rent the car, though, you'll need to go to the desk. That is just off the lobby, toward the back of the lobby on the left. This was by far the best car rental experience I've ever had.

I didn't mean that as a slam, I was just stating that it's easier to get from BCV to the Dolphin rather than wait for a shuttle to pick you up! It is definitely a short walk - maybe 5 min.??

I usually make a reservation ahead of time thru National's website, then just walk to the Dolphin from either Epcot or MGM and pick up the car at a locked-in rate.
