If back in 2008 you filled out a claim form for a lawsuit against various banks for not disclosing currency conversion fees on international credit card charges, THE SETTLEMENT CHECKS ARE FINALLY GOING TO START GETTING MAILED!!

Due to the volume of claims, awards have been reduced. If you filed a claim for the straight $25 payment, you will actually receive a few cents over $18. If you filed one of the other types of claims (like me - I'm an "Option 2-er"), the algorithms got tricky, so you'll just have to wait and see what you get :rotfl:

Checks will be mailed over a 2 month period, starting early November. The court documents indicate they will be processed by zip code. Of course, my zip code starts with "95" so I'll probably be one of the last folks to get their's. But hey, I'll take it when it comes!!

More info is here: http://www.ccfsettlement.com/home/

I've been checking the website out every month or two for the last 3-1/2 years :rolleyes1 and I was floored last night to see that everything is finally finishing up!

Wow, I completely forgot about this! We filed the long-formula claim, so I've no idea what we'll get back. Thanks for the update!

1) Yippee.
2) Based upon the paperwork, I might get $35, or so.
3) Not much, but good for some wine and cheese.
4) Now, if I can get MrsRustyScupper home early one night . . .

Dang. I have since moved. I guess I will never get my $18

Since they are actively printing checks, I suspect it's too late to turn in an address change (although I could be wrong - couldn't hurt to try). But in any case, the court documents say that if the check gets returned to them as undeliverable, they will attempt to look up your new address with the USPS (they have products that lists address changes). If they can't find it there, then they just give up. So, if you filed an address change with the USPS when you moved, there should be a good chance that they will eventually find you.

you could refile a change of address form. It won't really affect much currently, but at least you would get the check a whole lot sooner.

From the settlement website:

If you have changed your address, you should send any updated information to the Settlement Administrator.

"...This entire case has not shown the U.S. legal system in a particularly flattering light, both in the way it’s dragged on and how it’s basically worked to enrich the lawyers and no one else. Despite this, a lot of people, from inside the industry and out, are owed a little something, and all parties should increase their efforts to ensure they get it. Hey, $300 million is a decent-sized stimulus package! Even if a diamond is forever, legal cases about diamonds shouldn’t be."

Worst case scenario if you've moved it should end up in unclaimed funds at some point.
