Remember these??????

I too have no clue about Chick-o-Sticks, ubt I always imagined them tasting line chicken.

Love the Zebra gum!

I had a pack of Chuckles yesterday!!

Cracker Barrel, Meijer, and some old Ben Franklin type 5 and 10 stores still carry this stuff.

Someone brought a bag of Chick-o-sticks to work a few months back. They remind me of those neopolitan candies my mom used to buy that were made of coconut. I really liked them and was sad to see them disappear so quickly. If you like toasted coconut, you need to find a Chick-O-Stick.

I feel so old being one of the "do you remember" crowd! :guilty:

I loved the candy cigs, those were the best!
I saw fruit strip gum at meijers the other day, ahhhhh the smell brought back memories :cloud9: .
Chick-o-sticks I never tried cause they sounded like they taste like chicken  .
I loved razzles, I found some and bought them for dds, they thought they were cool.

Anyone remember the gold nugget gum? It came in a sack, and the nuggets were so small, they would disappear when you would try to eat just one at a time. :Pinkbounc

I've seen that gum at Cracker Barrel quite often.

Ditto. :rotfl2:

I think my favorite was Pop Rocks though. :)

I can't believe how many of you have been deprived of the Chick-O-Stick. I am trying to think how to describe. It is a brittle type candy with something similar in texture to peanut butter inside, very thinly applied with a mild coconut flavor, then it is rolled in toasted coconut, it may seem like a lot of coconut, but the brittle candy really overpowers and the cococut is hardly noticable.

I LOVE THESE, there is a convenience store N. of me on the Calif/Nevada border that carries them, and once in awhile when we are headed out to go camping I will get one. They are yummy!

You are all so deprived........They do not taste like chicken :lmao:

WAX LIPS!!! Oh man I used to love those. I would chew the wax for days!!

I also loved the wax "pop bottles"

Is it terrible that I buy my kids (and myself) candy cigarettes?

The next time any of you are in Orlando, there is a GREAT store at the Florida Mall (Orange Blossom Trail @ Sand Lake Road) called Dylan's Candy Bar that has all of these retro candies and much, much more. I was even able to bring home candies my mom (who's in her 80's) remembers from her youth. They have an amazing selection of all the old-time candies. They also have all the new, hot items. What I thought was great was that they had a good size section with all the Harry Potter candies. You usually see a couple of them at Target, Wal-Mart, etc. but they had EVERYTHING, not just Bertie Botts Beans.

Here is their website for reference but it really is cool just to be able to visit, pick and choose.

Choo Choo Charlie was an engineer.......

Oh man, I used to LOVE Fruit Stripe gum, even though it tasted kind of gross. IIRC, at one point it also came with these wierd little faux tattoos that all you had to do was lick the paper, stick it to your arm, hold it down for like a minute and when you peeled it off, you had a cheesy looking fake tattoo. :)

LOVE chic o sticks!

We went to Boone, NC to take the boys snowboarding, and there was an old general store that sold over 500 types of candy. I loaded up on the chic o sticks and Mary Janes.

DH still eats chick-o-sticks and i still eat sugar babies....you can get 10 small bags of them at our dollar general for $1

I still eat Chick-O-Sticks every now and then. I had forgotten about the candy cigarettes we used to "smoke". I was telling my boys about the cigs, and they just couldn't believe that grandma would actually buy me candy to pretend to smoke. She was so embarrased. LOL, I thought I was so cool. :cool1:

Good description!

We ate them all the time and I didn't even remember the coconut flavor.
I do remember the filling you described and how the brittle layer would break off in pieces when you bit into one.

I'm feeling old!

Thanks cat mom! I forgot about the texture it is kinda like the inside of a butterfinger in the way it breaks. The ones I have always had are the size of a cigar, I have never had "little" ones but I am sure they are similar

I loved Fruit Stripe gum! DH & I were just talking about that the other day. I haven't had it in years, but I can still remember the smell...mmm!

Chick-o-sticks are great, too. They still sell those around here...DD loves them, too.

And, ah, the candy cigarettes! What a gross candy! I loved it, of course, but I think about it now and, bleh! :smokin: Even worse than the smoke-puffing gum cigarettes, I remember a skinny, crunchy kind of candy cigarette - it was a white candy with the tip painted orange.

I also remember the garbage candy...it came in a little garbage pail.

I'm feeling old now...pass the Geritol.
