Reliability of Porter travelling from the USA back to Canada

I have mainly flown Porter within Canada and have been quite happy with it. However I had one very negative experiencing flying from Halifax to Toronto, in which the flight was cancelled 2 hours before due to not having an available pilot. This has made me cautious about booking Porter when I need to be home in time for work or other reasons.

I'm looking at a return flight to Toronto from Miami after a cruise. Porter seems to have decent fares for a Miami-Toronto flight, but there is only one flight per day (no connecting flights are offered as alternatives for that day). As such I worry about the prospect of a flight issue for that one flight that will leave me hanging.

For those who have flown Porter from a Florida destination back to Canada, how have your experiences been from perspectives of delays/cancellations?

You could also look at Porter from FLL, it's about an hour from Miami so a lot of cruisers fly there instead and I believe they fly there twice a day?

But I used Porter Mon - Mon of March Break and had no real issues. the flights were delayed but that was an airport issue, not a Porter issue. In both cases the flights were ready to go but some other flight was running late and caused us to not be able to go. Any way! I haven't heard of cancellations myself.

We flew this past April from MCO, flight was delayed leaving about 2 hours. Missed our connection from Ottawa to TO, but it was with Porter, so they had another flight about 10mins after that. Only issue was instead of flying to the Island airport in TO, it took us to Pearson. We were Ubering anyway, but if I had my car at the other I would have made/asked them to pay to get there.

The destination does not make an airline more or less reliable, technically speaking. Like most other airlines in Canada, Porter does have a pilot shortage and their overtly agressive scheduling means that some flights will be cancelled and others delayed.

Fair point. I had made that assumption due to my experience in Halifax when my flight was cancelled due to not having any pilots. I figured that would be less likely if departing from a major Porter hub like Toronto.
