Regular vs Value rates?

Why is there such a difference in the dates designated as value season with the deluxe & moderate resorts? We want to go Aug 2004. The deluxe has 7/5-9/29 as value in the summer while the moderates have 8/29-9/29. Not many summer days for the moderates. I thought the pricing season rates should all follow the same dates. Any idea why they are different?

I'm sure that Disney has spent a lot of time and money into this research and have found that there are more families going to WDW during this time frame and they stay at the Mods and Value resorts rather than the Deluxe. Therefore they have different time frames for the seasons.

I'm sure there is a method to their madness. We did exactly what Disney wanted us to do this summer. We thought why pay regular rates at a moderate when we can pay value rate at a Delux, so we choose the Contemporary over Dixie Landing and were very happy with our choice. I hope they continue this policy because we would choose a value Delux anytime.

Maybe I'm being a little cynical, but I think it all comes down to making a profit. They charge peak season rates when they know they can fill those rooms at that rate, and they charge value rates when they know they know those rooms will sit empty unless they lower the cost. I know some of the deluxes are convention hotels and maybe July-September is a slow convention time at Disney, so there's lots of empty rooms.
