Regular Dining Plan vs. Deluxe Dining Question

I currently have the normal, run of the mill dining plan for our trip in December. I am considering upgrading to the Deluxe Plan. It's my understanding that free dining will not be happening in December, but this is a peak time.

If I were to do so is there any reason to believe that I would receive some kind of preferential treatment when I make my ADR's?

Thanks for any help or thoughts!

It basically would be the difference of a counter service or another sit down meal. If you are going for the holidays, it would be do you want to take the time from rides/park time to have two large sit-down dinners a day. As far as the ADRs, it makes no difference at all. That comes down to who's call gets through first or who get on-line first.

DXDDP seems like alot of planning...............:scared1:

Lots of time away from the parks.........

We did the DxDDP and loved it! Still had plenty of park time and we were able to get in a ton of character meals for the kids. I don't think we received any kind of preferential treatment in making ADRs, though.

I always do DLXDP and have no problem seeing everything at the parks. I did the regular plan 1x and it is not enough food. I am not a huge eater either.

Totally agree! We've done DxDDP twice now and we're hooked! :thumbsup2

My DH does not like CS restaurants, he likes to have an appetizer with his meals, we avoid paying the additional holiday surcharges and we LOVE room service!

DxDDP is perfect for our family. :yay:

Deluxe Dining Plan is awesome. We loved it!

However, trust me..you'll get NOOOO preferential treatment. Still the same issues with making ADRS. They really don't care who has what kind of dining plan.

Thanks for the responses everyone. I just wondered if it gave you an edge. :rolleyes1

I think that we're going to go with it anyway since we're going to do Jiko, CRT Breakfast, and Narcoossee's, so it will probably be worth it. And I guess that I should say I hope that we're going to do that since I'll have to make it past the ADR system. :rotfl2:

:disrocks:

I have used both plans. You will not get preferential treatment when booking ADRs.

To us, it's tons of food versus more tons of food. We did the regular dining plan one time and didn't like planning our entire trip around our meals. I can only imagine that the Deluxe Dining plan would be even worse, especially at the holiday time.

Also, this will be off topic, but I love the Soup Nazi! Maybe the best Seinfeld episode.

There have been a lot of great TV references on the DIS lately. Love it. :rotfl2:

No soup for you! Awesome.

You are the FIRST person I have EVER known who said the DDP is not enought food.....:scared1: WOW....

I hear you I cant imagine chasing ADR's every 4 hours!!!! :scared1::eek::sick:
That is a LOT of wasted park time.....

Off topice BUT SOOOOO worth it!!!

That is one of the all time best on TV....... :worship:

And being on the DXDDP there will be PLENTY of soup for them!!!!:scared1:

We tried the DxDDP last year and LOVED it. So much so we decided to do it again this year. As far as how much time it takes away from the parks depends on your planning I guess. We had no problems eating 2 meals a day. Half of the days we did an early breakfast so by the time we were done the park just opened or had been open for only 30 mins. We also did late dinners some nights.

For those who say that it takes away from your time at the park... to me sitting down in a restaurant for a meal that takes up 1 1/2 hours of your time is no different that going back to your resort in the middle of the day to relax and swim. My DH and I get to the parks early and we don't leave until it closes. So we have plenty of time to do everything that we want and enjoy nice dining experiences.

If you really enjoy Disney dining I think you'll love this plan. Have fun planning!

Thanks again everyone!

I agree with the concept that relaxing at a meal would be much better than hoofing it back to the resort for a rest.

We were at Disney World a few weeks ago (HOT and Crowded) and plan on a return trip in January. We had the deluxe dining plan. We will be using regular dining in January. We left meals unused on the deluxe plan and half of the snack credits were never used. I feel one table service meal a day is plenty.

We are the same way. I find CS too stressful and not relaxing. Between worring about my girls, finding a table and not liking lots of food, I would rather do a TS breakfast and a TS dinner every day then a CS. In fact we are doing the deluxe when we go in August. I will let you know if it is too much food. :rotfl2:

I plan on using snack credits for waters and treats to come home with.

Wohoo...we went ahead and went with the upgrade too.

I agree that using extra credits for waters and snacks are an excellent use of snack credits.

This past April DS and I actually used a CS credit for deserts at the Boardwalk Bakery when we had credits left over. DS had a huge cupcake and I had carrot cake, we both had a bottled water and all of that only cost us 1 CS credit.

I think that if you're motivated then you can use those left over credits. :thumbsup2
