The more I think about it, the more I've decided there are time you would want to fake an internet death, even for your kids. What if you had posted pics of your kids and then decided there was enough info out there to actually figure out where these kids live. One poster here said they might be able to find out who deafmedic is and had already found out his occupation.

What if you belonged to a small internet community and then found out that one had been accused of sending porn or even child porn to other internet users, wouldn't that make you want to step back and disconnect from that group? You might want to let your "friends" know, but how do you really know which people are the good guys?

Another reason to fake your wife's or husband's internet death would be if you felt they were getting too close to someone of the opposite sex on the computer, or maybe you thought they were just spending way too much time on the internet and might get fired from their job. By killing them off, you could make it embarrassing to come back and seek out their buddies.

Anyway, I don't know that any of these scenarios could or have ever happened, but there are reasons IMO to fake an internet death.

I am the administrator of the other board. If they had a need to back away, all they needed to do is, well, back away. Stop posting and don't communicate with anyone. And if they had a need to back away, the husband would not have continued to post on the board! You may not form relationships on the internet, but some people do, including myself. There were a lot of people who were truly grieved over this situation, and who felt betrayed at finding out it was not true. Faking the deaths was a horrible thing to do, it hurt real people. There was NEVER a reason for that to be done.

Oh come on, there are ZERO reasons to fake an internet death. No matter what the situation...you can simply stop visiting message boards, you can sell your computer, you can throw it out the damned window. If you feel threatened, you notify the police or the FBI. You change your locks, whatever. You do not fake your own and your childrens death...and you certainly do not make up gruesome details.

The ONLY reason people do stuff like this is to gain attention. It is that simple.

That's exactly it. I think some people just see these boards as a diversion, like an interactive tv show or book.

Maybe - but still, I can't see EVER thinking, never mind writing, such horrible things about my own baby.

So to you there are several reasons to fake your own death as well as 2 innocent children to peope who consdered you their friends? Fascinating!

Thank You Alex for being supportive through this situation.

this thread has turned into something bizzarre beyond words...

We all know who and what Chris and Lea are.

the REAL mother of those children IS aware of the situation
I
personally cried over the loss off those childrens lives even though I did not know them (you see I always cry when I watch the news and children I don't know die in horrific accidents) so it doesn't maatter the level of 'frienship' involved at all.

Those trying to justify their actions are just as demented as Chris and Lean in my book.

They could at any time walk away from any group - or the internet alltogether - they obvioulsy knew how to work the system get new screen names, and all kind of other things... noon kept them there...

just let it go now...

Wow. I just really can't fathom how anyone could be capable of even typing out what people have said they did. The details, the story. How can you say things like that about your CHILD without losing it? Can you seriously imagine concocting a story of holding your child's hand as they are taken off of life support and die and not be seriously upset over that image in your mind?

Twisted. Very, very twisted.

Now lets get this into proper view here folks, I am the twisted one! I cared! Forshame!!!! I cared, now let the flogging begin, unless that was not gramatically correct of course! :confused3 MT2PA, thanks for stopping by and out to make me feel worse!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Seasons greetings!

I think most mature and reasonable people would just stop posting on the internet.

Grammar aside, I've given heartfelt p&pd before because of posts on this board, I felt sad when I read about this person's wife and children dying in the car accident. That said, I don't think that their children's lives or well-beings are necessarily in jeopardy because they made up this scenario on the DIS boards. People make up stuff here on a regular basis, this car crash was just an extreme version of those stories. Yes, I would consider it to be very cruel to the people who actually met this person and their kids and considered them to be friends, but to the rest of us who barely knew this person existed, it was just a story (and made up stories often make me cry, I see nothing wrong with getting emotional over any situation read on the DIS- real or invented). I don't think that making stuff up on an internet board necessarily makes someone a monster in real life or would cause their kids to lead a life of doom. It's a strange way to spend your time, but it happens.

I think you and Chris/Lea would get on FABULOUSLY!!! :sunny: PM me if you are in need of their phone numbers, address, IM addresses or whatever....ya'll would definitely make the best of friends. :cloud9:

 To all of you Thank you! this hurt!! Those of you who don't get it, kiss my ****! Is that bad?

I think that most people do get it.

Does anyone have a clue as to *why* Deafmedic and/or her husband started this lie? Obviously nothing would excuse it, but I am curious what their possible motives and/or reasons could be. Hard to comprehend how someone could do this.

HOLY CRAP

could momof2pa be an alterego of one of them :confused3

I certainly don't think so, but right now nothing would surprise me. Her screen name has been around for 3 years. Of course those in the know would be able to tell if the same IP address has been used, but I've heard that there are ways to get around that.

Ok gang we can stop with the personal attacks NOW

thank you for your cooperation.

It's good to talk this out because Internet attacks and trolling can be a big problem and this could be a good warning to some people. However, there's no point in squabbling about it because the truly guilty people aren't even here as far as we know. As upset as some people are, there's really nothing else to do but learn from this and move on.

Do you all have any idea that they are most likely lurking and reading all of this? The more you argue, the more they are laughing and probably accomplishing part of what they set out to do. Don't give them the satisfaction.

Alex, you have been a prince and thank you! silyme, Its all goof. 99.5 of you totally understand, thank you! The rest of you......................I am not allowed to say! Good night!
