Hi,

We will be staying at the Poly for 4 nights (we plan to spend 2 half days at least by the pool and in the hotel) - Would you bother to get the refillable mugs or are they only worthwhile for longer stays?

I thought my ds4 might like the idea of one, but how many times do you refill them before you get your money's worth??

thanks alot.

I think the mugs are worth the $ and considering that with the new YOAMD mugs you can refill them at other WDW Resorts, they are a great purchase because of that reason.

As for you're other question, I would say you get you're money's worth after the 3rd time you refill it.

We always purchase the mugs. :thumbsup2 We usually have breakfast at the resort counter serivce, so we use them for that. Then, we use them when we come back for an afternoon break and at the end of the day, also. I think you'll get your money's worth out of them, if you consider how much each individual purchase would be.

And, they make nice, little souvenirs to take home! :)

We will be staying at POP this Oct. and we are planning on getting the mugs, but I am not sure I know how it works. What time can we fill up and what time does it end. Who does the refilling and is there a limit? Thanks for all this information. I hope to have everything planned when we get there. Any other tips would be great..

You can start filling your mug right after you buy it.
There are serve yourself stations at most of the food courts .
Most of the refill stations are open about 7AM-Midnight.
There is no limit to number of refills during your stay.

The refills for those mugs end when your current visit is over.

Have fun at Disney.

Thank you so much! Did I read the mugs only hold 8oz?
Without ice and filled to the very, very tippy top, they will hold 16 ounces.

But if you filled them that full, you'd run the risk of getting pop all over yourself, so you wouldn't do that. Filled to a normal level, with ice, 8 ounces is probably close. :)

I don't normally get them because they are a pain in the butt.
  • First, you have to wash them out - so, bring that Lemon Joy and a washrag!
  • Second, you have to remember to bring them from the room to the refill spot. If you filled up and then took it to the car, you have to remember to get it out of the car when you get back.
  • Third, it is a pain to go to refill it, even if you're staying close - but especially if your building is far from the Great Ceremonial House. Who wants to spend 20 minutes every time they want 8-10 more ounces of pop?? And God forbid it rains. Now you're doing it in the rain.
  • Fourth, they cost more than a case of 24 pops would cost if you stopped at the flippin grocery store on your way in.
  • Also, it sounds like a good idea to get some pop on your way to the park and then some more on the way back...but when you get back, your mug has been sitting in the car all that time and now has little bits of dried pop in it, so you'd have to wash it out. Of course, you remembered it when you left the room and have your Lemon Joy with you, so maybe this won't be a problem. Or maybe you don't wash things out, which I don't even want to know! :)

I just measured water from ours here and they hold 16oz :thumbsup2

Ditto- we do the same thing= resort counter service, afternoon breaks and evening beverage. :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

You need to fill them 6 times in order to get your money's worth. Fountain soda is usually around $2.00 per cup. Coffee and hot cocoa being around $1.90.

We used to buy the mugs, but we only used them about twice a day . . .in the morning with breakfast and then in the evening when returning from the parks. So for us, it wasn't worth the 12.71 a mug.

Have fun on your trip!

I'm glad to hear you can use the mugs at any resort now.

They are worth the money to get them besides the YOAMD mugs look cool :cool2:

We shared a mug on our last trip. My DD7 and I drink the same things so we bought one and shared. We ate breakfast every day and several dinners at the resort food court. For breakie DD would have milk(which is not a refill option) and I would use the mug for my tea. At dinner we would fill the mug with soda and then before we left we would get a refill to go.

It worked for us but I can see how that would not be an option for a lot of people. Our next trip (Aug 25) our whole family is going and we will be on the DDP so I'm not sure if we will even get mugs.

As far as them being worth the money, that's easy. Take into consideration that most drinks are around $2. If you know that you will purchase at least 6-7 drinks during your stay then the mug will pay for it self. Any extra drinks you have would be like getting them for free.

Wow, Thank you for all this information. Most likely we will get the mug, after all, we are on vacation. I will make sure we use it . We like our morning coffee may 2 cups.

They are worth the mnoney. We borught lots of drinks with us but my wife wanted to get one. Between coffee in the morning and sodas we broke even after two days. We hit the parks with regularity but had a couple of down days. They make a great souvenier anyway.

Ok so if I got the mug for my whole family, say I drank it when we take a break in the afternoon (after lunch) to have in the pool. And maybe a little drink on the way back from the parks. Is it worth it to buy the mug if you are on the Dining Plan?

Thanks

We more than got our moneys worth out of them. We were on the DDP. When we ate at the food court in the resort, the four of us would get 2 milks for DD and 2 Juices for DS to take back to the room for the morning and use our mugs for lunch/dinner. DH and I had coffee in the morning and then the kids had milk and juice. Worked out well for us.

I'm not sure if they are really worth it...I think I drink more pop because I have this crazy need to get my money's worth! We got them last time even though we were on dining plan. We'd fill them up in the morning and then at night, and then on nap days we'd fill them up in the afternoon. I'm still getting them in Sept with free dining. They make good souveniers.

Whether it is worth it varies from person to person. I drink a lot of soda (I know it's not good for me but there are worse things) and I will make a few trips for refills each night so I usually get a mug. If we drive to WDW I am content to bring my own which is a lot cheaper than either the $2.09 per cup or refillable mug. If you don't have the opportunity to bring your own or don't want the hassle and drink at least a couple mugs a day then it is worth it. If you plan on spending time sitting around the pool then it probably would be worth it.

Refillable mugs are definitely worth every penny. After about the third drink refill, you have paid for them. Staying four days, I would recommend it, unless you are just going to drink water,
