>> Refillable Mug FAQ <<

I can't find it now, but somewhere I read what the breakeven point was for each option on the mug - like for the length of stay option, you had to use the mug six times to break even on the cost. Does anyone know where I can find that info? Thanks!

There's only one price for the mugs now and that price is $17.99. They don't offer options by number of days anymore.

The current price of the mug is $17.99 and the current price of a soda is $3.29. Simply dividing, you get 5.47. Keep in mind, you can, if you are within the time limit, refill your purchased soda. Of course, if you are going back to your room, that might not work for you.

During my one night stay at Pop this week, I bought a large coffee that was $2.49 (plus tax). So at that current price someone buying the mug for coffee (like I usually do) would need to use it at least 7 times for coffee -- which I easily do during a regular week-long stay, plus I use the mug for coffee-flavored soda fills too.

Thanks for the info, I didn't realize it had changed to just one price. We're staying six nights, so I think using it six times to break even is doable. Thanks!

Alright I'm a little confused. Do the mugs have chips or something? If I get a soda and drink it down (which I don't normally do) and want a refill before going back to the pool or my room, I can't do that immediately and have to wait a certain timeframe?

Yes, there is a chip in the bottom of the mug that is read by where you sit your mug on the refill station, under the fountain spout on this black tray. You are limited to a refill every 2-3 minutes. However, there is some play room for this as filling your mug up often does not fill it totally according to the screen, so you can take a sip and continue filling. After that, you would have to wait. It doesn't feel like too long a wait though. And the tea, coffee, and hot chocolate do not have the chip reader tray, so refill as fast and often as you want :goodvibes

edit: Oh, and it has a countdown timer too on the screen that tells you how long until your next refill is available after you put your mug on it. It's pretty easy.

When you say tea do you mean the iced tea machine too? That's what I would be drinking probably. I wouldn't use the chip for that?

Only the soda dispensers have the RFID Rapid Fill chip reader system. Other beverages you can get with your refillable mug, such as the Gold Peak Iced Tea and coffee, do not have the chip system on the dispensers.

if you lift your cups up to a light you will see the chips in the bottom of the cups, this is how it knows when you filled the cup, times for refills vary I think last year we could refill sodas after about 20 minutes but hot drinks you can get as many as you want as often as you want they had no limits and yes iced teas were available my DH thought i had lost the plot when i drank it!

Yes I think we did have a few problems with it down at Roaring Forks that's bound to have issues when the resort is packed to capacity though, I had to ask them to refill the hot chocolate twice which was done after a long wait and no I couldn't just get something else, I needed hot chocolate and treats to wind down after being soaked through for a couple of hours before that I needs warmth and comfort not a caffeine high..... At least the food court at CBR has a better setup than one line of sodas and two coffees and two teas (one of each was decaf in case you were wondering and nope I don't like decaf). For a resort of it's size WL needs a bigger quick service place.

I'm planning a 3 week trip but the discount I wanted topped out at 14 days. To get around this they booked me for 14 nights and then a second reservation at the same resort and hopefully in the same room. For refillable mugs purposes is the length of stay considered 14 days or 21 days?

Doesn't matter. The mug is active for 14 days for everyone, and it would need to be reactivated if your stay at a Disney resort continues past that point, whether you're on one long reservation or two shorter ones. After your 14th day, just stop at the place where you refill the mug and see the cashier. They'll reactivate the mug for you.

Can you get soda, coffee, etc., WITHOUT a mug, or will we have to purchase a mug to get a beverage at our food court (ASMu)? We are not on the dining plan and probably won't drink enough to justify buying mugs, but it would be nice to get the occasional iced tea while sitting by the pool. If we don't purchase a mug, how does this work?

Just purchase the beverage -- soft drinks an usually be purchased at both the food court and the pool bar.

So....If I purchase one of the refillable mugs at my resort, it is good at all the QS locations in the parks? (Can't do the dining plan because we are on a group rate with my son's school)

It is only good at the counter services in the resorts -- not those in the parks.

I've seen several people comment about how they buy only on mug for their family and all use it. Thoughts??

We've always bought one per person, and labeled the mug with a sharpie so as to minimize germ-sharing.

I saw someone who had the middle portion of the lid swapped, allowing for more color options for a larger family. I haven't tried it myself, but it looked cool (ie the middle of the lid was red and the outer ring was blue).

This is a very smart idea!
