Refillable mug changes

And you can refill these an unlimited number of times, correct? I'm thinking perhaps DH and I can share one......we will likely be eating dinner five times in the food court at POR, and as long as we could refill it a few times during our meal, this would be a way to save money instead of us both paying $3 apiece for a soda for five days in a row!

There is a 2-3 minute lockout period between fills, but yes, you can fill it repeatedly.

We don't buy the mugs, we stock our fridge with soft drinks and water. With 5 people, that would be $75. I buy canned drink 12-packs when they are on sale. This year, we had 8 12-packs and 2 cases of water and only paid $30 - makes much more financial sense in my situation. We just carry a drink with us to the food courts each morning and always have a drink waiting when we get back to the room. We do drive though. If we were flying, I might buy a few of the mugs and share.

No difference to me, because like lots of you do, we get a dining plan and the mug is included. We use the mugs a lot, though, so I'd probably get them even if I didn't get a DDP.

If you have coffee in the morning and a couple sodas during the day they basically pay for themselves in a day or 2. No brainer as far as I'm concerned. And since I use these types of mugs for coffee every morning on my way to work, its a way of remembering the trip after I'm back home.

Now if they could only come up with one that was refillable every 2-3 minutes with beer or wine!!!

We usually purchase one for each of us OOP or on the DDP. We usually have a morning drink and then a couple when we get back to the resort. We also take it with us so we can refill it at any QS restaurant at the resorts when we are resort hopping.

Go to any resort food court/QS location, grab the one you want and "pay" for it with your plan.

Some resorts even have them available at the registration lobby during busy checkin times. I know Port Orleans does this from time to time, to help guests who might just want to grab a drink without having to queue up in the food court first.

:welcome:

The free refills are just at the resorts. :)
I will add that you can refill them at ANY of the WDW resorts. So if you got your mug at the pop century and you find yourself at the Polynesian (perhaps for Ohana) you can bring your mug and refill it at their food court as well.

It would be nice to be able to use them in the parks, but I think Disney would have to really raise the price a lot if they did that.

Can you just get soda or are there other options available such as coffee, hot cocoa or tea?

I really don't drink soda. I am a coffee guy (mostly), and you can definitely get coffee and tea and I am pretty sure the cocca is available as well. These, however are not controlled (as of last time I was there) by the RF chip in the cup.

I will also add that since the last time we had them we stayed at Fort Wilderness, at the pool snack bar, they didn't have a self service for the cups. You had to ask the attendant at the snack bar for a refill. Apparently their policy prevents them from taking your "Used" cup and filling it up inside their work station area, so instead they would just take a normal cup and fill it up with your desired selection and allow you to dump it into your mug (and subsequently throw the disposable cup away). So again no checking of the RFID was done there either.

We've always bought the refillable mugs and found them to be totally worth the price. We haven't been in four years, and I had no idea that they are now a part of Disney Dining plan! Awesome!!! When did that happen?
