Refillable mug changes

Cool. I'm not sure if I would want to spend the $17.99 for the three of us...so glad they are part of the dining plan now.

Thanks for the information. This is our first time getting the mugs. They have chips in them! I didn't realize they were so fancy. It is a shame that you can't just have an old mug reactivated for future trips. They should really consider adding that option from an environmental perspective.

I'm assuming the unit cost of each mug in the quantities that they buy them is so small that they wouldn't be able to offer a 'recharge' price low enough to entice guests. Would you re-activate a mug if they only offered a dollar off the new purchase price for example?

I couldn't say since I am getting mine with the dining plan and I'm not aware if and how much I will be using the thing.

I buy the mugs even though I'm not a huge soda drinker. I always look at them as a souvenier more than buying drinks. The Drinks are just a bonus.

We get the mugs whether they are free dining or not. Two drinks of any kind per day pays off after a few days. Then I have a souvenir for the niece and nephew they love. I drink too much soda and coffee, might as well get a deal for it on vacation.

See, I thought you *could* get the chip reprogrammed for another stay. You aren't getting a discount, but you also aren't using resources you don't need by getting another mug. I like that. :) For our generally long stays, paying for a mug just for coffee (caf in the morning, decaf at night) purposes can easily be worth it.

Up to 14 days with the same mug?!? Do you bring dish detergent and wash them in the sink in your room?

They have mug wash stations in the food courts, but I usually bring those wipes with the built in soap. You can also put dish soap in a sponge and let it dry. Cut it up into pieces and put it in a baggie. Then you can pull out a piece at a time to wash the mugs. Easy peasy. :)

When I was at Disney in early May the only option displayed for refillable mugs was the "entire stay" option. Is this just what Disney lists to trick you into paying the greatest amount? Was that the only option prior to the changes described in this thread? I am staying again in October and i think i might get a new mug just because. I would just rather fly and fork out cash for a mug instead of spending 10 hours in a car or renting car at Disney just for soda. Then again I don't travel with a large group.

Some resorts still have the old tiered pricing (with length of stay set at $17.99) while others have a new single-price of $16.49.

We got them through the dining plan and thought they were a nice addition. The inability to refill them at the parks, combined the with small size, would make them not worth purchasing for us though.

The 3 minute refill is kind of annoying as I like to take a drink, then refill to take back to the room. Now I will have to wait around.

Don't get ice with your first fill. It comes out cold, you get more, therefore it takes a little longer to chug. Lol

ETA: and if you literally mean you like to just take a sip, you can still top it off. There is a small window that allows for mixing of drinks.

That's good to know. I take a couple of gulps, then fill it more, and as the soda drinks fizz up they need a top up after the head goes away.

If staying at a compact resort like the BWI, POFQ or WL I think these can be a good investment. But anywhere where the trip to the refill station is more than three minutes I'm not sure I could be bothered. There really should be a refill station at every lobby, pool and lounge.
