If you refer someone to DVC you get the disney dollars if they purchase. Current promo is that if you refer someone they get 15% off the point price. Does the member that made the referral still get the disney dollars if the person purchase through the 15% incentive program?

Thanks

What is the bonus?
We have 1 maybe 2 that did buy and used us as a referral.

Each time you refer someone to DVC and they use your name and they end up purchasing you get a refer incentive. It can be in the form of disney dollars, money towards your dues, etc. There is a whole list of items and the amount goes up with each referral. Check it out

Remember, the bonus payment is restricted to residents of certain states. If you've referred folks but never received the bonusm you probably live in a state that does not allow them.

Fortunately, Mass does allow them, so I've received nice little bonuses (applied to maintenence fees) several times. Most of the time tho I have sent the bonus on to the person I referred, but now that I realize that it is taxable, that may not have been the best idea.

As long as you (the DVC member) provide the initial contact with DVC for the prospective buyer, you should get credit for the referral. Initial contact can be by the member or by the buyer crediting the member at the time of contact.

The best way to insure that is to be the one to submit the name to your own Vacation Guide - either online or by telephone or written letter to your guide. If the buyer has had any contact with DVC - in person at a DVC onsite kiosk, online or by telephone - prior to mentioning the member, then it's likely the member will be denied any referral reward. To be safe, make sure you have directly informed DVC of the potential buyer before they have a chance to contact DVC themselves.

In addition, some states do not allow any reward. DVC will still send a thankyou note, but nothing of any value would be allowed. Think of it as a nice attaboy! :)

I'm curious if the same thing is applicable to the $50 gift card promo they had for referring folks who completed the tour.

I received one of those $50 gift cards for referring someone, but my guide told me that VA wasn't one of the states that allowed compensation for referrals. Is the gift card incentive considered to be different since it isn't a "purchase" incentive, but a referral thing?

All I know is that I got a $50 disneyshopping.com certificate 2 weeks ago for the first time.

Bottom line: you are not eligible to receive anything. Your state lawmakers apparently think that the helpless innocents need to be protected from timeshare salespeople, and saw fit to pass legislation prohibiting any form of compensation related to timeshare sales referrals. Your DVC Guide couldn't even send you a basket of fruit as a "thank you" without breaking VA state laws.

Kinda stinks, huh?
