recycling jeans?

Any cute craftsI can make with jeans? I have 3 pair (two blue, one black) in various stages of ripped. I cant stand to just toss them since it seems so wastful but there not somthing I can donate to charity either. So its time to crack out my crafty side. Any ideas?

Yup -- make them into a purse! Just google Blue Jean Purse and you will be amazed at all the photos and instructions.

My daughter's girl scout troop did this last year and it is fun, easy, and looks great!

I've seen purses and skirts, but...

You can recycle jeans. They now make an insulation out of recycled denim. We had a girl scout troop collect them last spring to donate somewhere. You could google and see if there is someplace to donate.

Some places (like Aeropostle) will accept used jeans for money coupons or a % off a purchasae and they donate them.
I think there are also donations for the poor, like Salvation Army, Green Box, and some other.
But as for crafts, jean purses, jean wallets, jean aprons, patch quilt, pot holders...

these jeans arnt fit to be worn so donating to charity is out. May try a purse, or a nice autograph book sized holder.

I have a pair of DH's grubby jeans that are too shredded for yard work. I'm going to use the top portion for a purse/bag and the legs for plastic bag dispensers. The rest, that I can salvage, will go into a scrap bag for quilts or rugs or whatever.

Whenever I get these projects finished, I'll post pictures. But please don't hold your breath in anticipation ...

I think im gonna try for a nice stable cover for my photography notes (aka around autograph book sized) and a purse, and a pen pocket, and a bag holder (since I have 5 pairs of ratty jeans)

I'm new here.....


I use old pairs of Jeans to cover binders, and photo albums. The pockets are good for holding object, DVD's or CD's and I use the tabs that hold the belt too. I take these off and put 4 in different corners as a photo holder.


I can't sew and I just started scrapbooking but I have been covering photo albums for years and I love jeans for this.
