Recommendations for face masks at WDW?

Do you happen to know which ones you purchased on Amazon? We bought a batch of KN95s from amazon and they were super uncomfortable. Or how did you pick which ones to get?
We bought the Powecom ones as well. They were recommended on an earlier thread I read. We found them comfortable but we have pretty small faces :)

We bought KF94 (Korea) disposable masks from soomlab-korea and they worked great when we went to WDW in June and August. They only sell in big bulk though so it's a little expensive if you will only use these for a trip. They are very comfortable and super convenient since they are individually packaged. If you want a mask that you will also use in any other places and are willing to spend more, I also recommend Airinum Lite Air Mask. It's $49 but come with 2 replacement filters that are good for 100hr each. The mask is N95 equivalent, tested by the Research Institute of Sweden (RISE), so I would say it's more reliable than some random KN95 on Amazon.

I think the kf94's out of Korea are "decent" for some protection. I think they are a little easier to wear than the kn95's. Less data in the US about effectiveness to rely on admittedly.

But for just Florida friendly in terms of weather - the cheap, blue disposal surgical masks are the best I've found for the heat around me (which has been miserable due to heat waves this summer.)

I agree that the KF94 masks seem to be the most comfortable of the "heavy duty" masks. I don't think I could tolerate them long in the heat though. Maybe save for crowded indoors environments. If you're concerned about quality control, make sure you're getting a real authorized retailer's South Korean masks, not knock offs.

Our family has started buying the BOTN brand KF94s and think they are more comfortable than N95/KN95s while actually form a better seal due to a 2nd set of elastic pull ties.

There is an official BOTN store on Amazon and Be Healthy USA is an authorized retailer. In case anyone's curious, I've found their size descriptions to be pretty accurate---small works for kids up to about age 9 or maybe 10. Most tweens are going to be more comfortable in the medium. They list the large as "adult" size and as an average sized female, I could wear the medium, I agreed the large fit better. A lot of men might prefer the XL.

I agree with the KN95 masks. They are much more comfortable than the N95 masks, but still do a good job filtering.

The biggest recommendation I can make is to get everyone in your party a lanyard. They are cheap and they make taking the mask on and off as you enter and exit rides and buildings very easy.
We bought these on Amazon, and everybody used them.

We also used the Powecom ones. Bought ours on Amazon. We used black and white ones. The kids likes the way the black ones look. I thought the white would be cooler in the sun. These don’t fit my husbands face very well, so he used regular surgical masks.

we also bought some of the cute Disney ones and added a filter to the inside of them. I thought those were just as comfortable.

whatever you choose- wear them for a while before you go, so you know which feels best.

Chiffon masks on Etsy! They're so comfortable and breathable! And studies show they're just as effective as cotton.

Here are 2 CDC links for approved masks and counterfeit masks. The market is flooded with counterfeit masks that offer little to no protection. Just try your best to buy approved surgical 3-ply masks for light wear/protection and good quality KN95s or N95s for high level protection. You absolutely get what you pay for. It's also helpful to know that excepting dire circumstances, the masks we wear in the hospital are wear once and dispose. Most WDW guests are wearing their same mask all day. Quality is everything.

Hi all -

I'm sorry if this is the wrong forum but wasn't sure where it best fit.

I used to consider us WDW experts: AP holders, DVC owners, loved FP+, multiple trips but I joined the DisBoards because we haven't been since fall 2019 and so much has changed that I need help catching up.

Without getting into any debates of policy or mask mandates, can people suggest their best "Florida friendly" face mask for park use? We don't live somewhere with the heat and humidity of Florida and are looking to purchase a bunch of masks that will function well for us in the heat, that are easily washed, and ideally with quick drying material. The options are overwhelming to say the least on sites like Amazon.

So, favorite face masks for Florida type weather???

thanks in advance!

When are you going? That might help.

Does anyone have a suggestion on masks for small adults? I'm 44, but I'm a little too big for kids masks, and too small for regular adult sizes. Anyone have an idea?

I like Enro masks. They wash well, are very comfortable, dry quickly if wet and come in many design and sizes.

We use Norwex masks. They are comfortable, washable and were designed by a physician.

My DD and I just spent a week in FL. We wore N95s as we wanted to be the best protected. Now not everybody can handle this. But we flew in from Germany were those were mandated and so we were assimilated, lol. Our family and most I know agree the most comfortable masks to wear are the surgical ones. At the beginning the cloth ones or self made were all the rage.. Then only surgercial or N95s were allowed over here. It wasnt until I wore the surgical I realized any cloth type mask was horrible as they stick to your face and get very damp and icky gross. I actually almost prefer N95s if not sealed as they do not really touch the lips only the around the nose and mouth.( yes, I know, not worn correctly but I figure the same protection as a surgical then) I found all other fabric masks actually touch your lips and get really moist.

Sorry to ramble but we found surgical or N95 were better than any homemade, or store bought cloth.

I’ve mentioned it before in another thread but I love the Athletica “everyday” masks. I also feel like I have a small face and they work great for me. The ear loops are adjustable and there is a flexible nose clip. With those features you can really customize the fit and make a nice seal around your face. Plus the fabric is very breathable while still feeling safe.

Thanks all! Good call on the KN95 - I just assumed it would be too hard to find them in bulk: we’ll be there for 9 days and need enough for all of us. They really weren’t on my radar as possible!!
You need to order them before you go. I was so frustrated as we needed more. In orloando I went to 4 places, including a stunned Pharmacist when I asked, and you cannot find them. Even surgical I didnt see. Just cloth and we didnt want those.

We are using several different kinds. Paper masks for outside (our choice to wear them.) KN95s or N95s for indoor.

If I planned to wear an N95, I wouldn't go to Disney at all.

I went twice in brutal heat, with the outdoor mask requirement. I wore mostly paper, with a cloth mixed in here and there. I threw away several paper masks throughout the day. The kids also alternated paper and cloth masks. I would bring a selection. You're going to need more if it gets wet or sweaty.

I ordered disposable procedure masks to wear under my Disney mask. They don’t recommend you double up with an KN95, but you can with a procedure mask.

I agree with this. Our family is accustomed to heat and humidity, so we've adapted to N95s for the brief moments where we are putting them on while walking into a store, for example, but all day outside at WDW? That would be brutal.

We expect to use several masks daily. We love a brand Costco sells for thinner ones outdoors. We are using those because there is data still out on outdoor transmission of Delta. We'll be wearing those mostly to protect others. (We'll all be vaccinated, but we don't mind wearing them and refreshing them as we get hot.) The KN95s will be for indoor. I have a stack of N95s left so we'll keep those in my backpack in case we're ever in a situation where we feel unsafe. (Stuck in a crowd too close for comfort, etc.)

Normally I don't like to use so much disposable stuff, but for our trip, we'll make an exception . Two of us have very sensitive skin, so masks on in Florida would have to be changed out several times a day for us.

It's funny, a few years back, I expressed total joy to my husband that our kids were finally old enough that I could walk around WDW with just a tiny purse. Now I'm back to a backpack, filled with...masks? How times have changed.

Agree N95 is brutal in the heat and sun. But for those who are concerned about their protection and are not so well rehearsed and WDW keep in mind that many lines are indoors in AC and in very tight spaces. One good example is rise of the resistance without giving any spoilers, I can compare waiting in that line often like being in a full elevator stuck with people in a very small space- had AC though and fir us not an issue with N95s . So it may make sense to carry and 95 for those type of situations another more comfortable masks for other situations.

I preferred the disposable surgical type. My fiance tried them but preferred the Disney ones.

Side note: Disney masks are actually hard to find in the parks right now, especially XL which is what he needed. I figured they would be everywhere but nope! So if anyone wants to try those, I recommend ordering online prior to your trip.
