We just returned from a week's stay at BCV -- Studio #275. We had a really wonderful time with our 3 boys.

For the first time in a dozen or so DVC stays we had a few things that we had to have taken care of....

We arrived on Saturday and immediately after one of the kids washed his hands, he got all excited about the sink. I thought he might have closed the stopper and was filling up the sink, but no,
there was water pouring out of the faucet and the handle would not turn it off unless you stopped in just the exact spot. The handle had actually came off. I was able to get it back on and get the water stopped but it was leaking all over the bath counter. We called and they had someone up in about 45 minutes. The thing that bothered me was that it had to be obvious to the maid that it was very loose .....why she didn't have someone attend to it before a guest checked in is a mystery to me. The fellow worked on it quite awhile....actually had to leave and come back with another handle.

Later that night, we all had our baths and or showers. Dear old Dad was last, taking a shower and the drain in the bath tub was slower than molasses (sp). I mean it was flat out gross. The spouse remarked that she couldn't believe when she was giving the 9 month old a bath (we leave the drain open with him) and the tub was filling up like crazy. It was around 9:30 pm but sorry it is just not cool to stand in water or lay in the case of our baby in water that is being held back from a thousand other folks "stuff". Same fellow showed up in about 1/2 hour and the amount and condition of the stuff that he got out of that drain was amazing. He was even commenting how bad it was. He spent about 1/2 hour on it. We were so glad we called about it, the rest of the week you could literally hear the water whistling and gurgling as it rushed down the cleaned drain.

Finally, on Monday, after only 2 days we ran out of our 1 roll of toilet tissue (there was not the usual extra) and I called down at around 7:30 am to request a "refill". We will be right up.....after an hour and after finishing up the rest of the "kleenex" on the 3 year old, called back and with a bit of tone said now could they also send up some kleenex also while they were "coming right up". We headed to a park and when we returned some 'paper" had made its way up....again why would the maid not leave an extra the way every other DVC and/or most any other motel/hotel in the country does.

We had a wonderful stay but sometimes the little things can be a bit of a pain, especially when all 3 were avoidable.

We loved this resort. Can't wait to stay there again sometime.

Sorry to hear about the glitches. But thanks for taking the time to call and have them fixed so things were better for the next guest!

Sorry to hear about those problems. Sounds like they may need to go through and do some prev maint.

Hope you had a great time otherwise. BCV is so great!

baileybrad,

What a coincidence! We were right across the hall from you in Studio #276 this past week. We didn't have any water-related problems, but I have read a few other threads regarding BCV maintenance issues which I have to agree with. DW and I were surprised at how much wear-and-tear BCV has already experienced in its brief existence. We have stayed at BWV and VWL, and I guess we thought BCV would have that "new car" feel to it. Other threads have commented on lights burned out around Dunes Cove, dirty railings, and an already visibly worn hallway carpet (all of which we witnessed as well). Perhaps the darker hues of VWL hide the wear better, but I don't recall seeing this apparent lack of upkeep at the other DVC resorts.

During almost every trip to and from our room, we saw discarded room service trays, trash bags, and/or towels (both pool and room), left outside villa doorways...for lengthy periods of time. This was our 4th stay in a DVC resort, and I do not recall seeing as many instances of "disgarded items" left outside room doors at BWV or WLV. Perhaps our trip coincided with an influx of room service orders, or people who aren't aware of the housekeeping rules of the home-away-from-home resorts. Or maybe there just aren't enough CM's to keep the hallways clean.

Yikes - Who are the pigs who are renting these villas??? I've been a member since 1997 and I've never thought it was acceptable to leave my trash or dirty towels out in the hall! I agree if the guests are such pigs/slobs that they do this, we need cm's to go around picking them up....but I hold the ignorant guests primarily responsible. It just seems so rude to do that - and can be dangerous to someone coming down the hall in a wheelchair or any other type of device.

I would hope that more people upon check out would inform the front desk of those small things that need looking after so the next guest will not have to deal with it. But I'm guessing few take the time....

We were at the BCV 8/27-9/1 and had the same sink problem. We were in room 541 and when you turned on the sink the water poured out the bottom. There is no way that the maid coulds have cleaned the room without noticing. We did not realize it was a faucet problem at first because the floor was wet in the closet/sink area and we thought it was the pipes. When I turned on the sink I got wet and realized what it was. They sent some men up the next day to fix it and they were there for 4 hours. Someone must be canking on the faucets or they bought a bunch of cheap ones originally.

I still love the BCV and they were really responsive to the problems. I wonder if the reason the rooms are getting more run down is the fact that a lot of people outside DVC stay there. I was talking to a CM and she said that they get a lot of non-DVC in the villas because of the Epcot closeness and because of SAB. Some peoplr think that because they are staying in a hotel it gives them the right to treat the room any way they want.

IrishTImL,
Hopefully, our 9 month old didn't wake you up at night...he was experiencing his first cold...wasn't the weather great. We swam everyday but one. We had a great time but it was a tad surprising to have the faucet problem at a resort that is still fairly new. I suppose that what happens sometimes when you take a low bidder. The drain thing should just be part of regular maintenance. And the tp thing was just a flat-out oversight on the maid's part.

We had a great trip, thanks for the responses, hope the next guest enjoyed the "power" drain in the tub.:D

If this is the case I hope soem of the money that comes from WDw renting out the villas to non members goes to maintenace.
I think it woudl stink if BCv members end up with higher dues because BCV gets more use than other Dvc resorts from non members who might not care for the rooms as much as we would.

We were at the BCV at the end of July and had trouble with 2 sinks. The repairman (who showed up after several hours and many towels later) reported that all the sink faucets were bad and they were slowly replacing them as they had time- in the mean time it was his job to "stop the flow".

We also had many light out, and some dirt, etc. that had to be taken care of. I was really looking forward to the BCV, but wasn't as impressed as I had hoped. After a disaster at Cape May and several other irritations, we decided that BWV or WLV would be our preference from now on (we own at BWV). I know many others enjoyed their stay, but the place just hit us wrong- not really bad, but just not really good for us. Oh well, makes more room for those who really like it!

Interesting as I have friends that are CM's at the BCV and they report the damage is just as likely to be done by members as renters. I think it really is just reflective of the individual and not the status of the person.
