Received email about closings at CBR - help!!

And on other threads, people report being told by Guest Services that the gift card WILL be given to EVERYONE who checks in at CBR, regardless of discount or calling ahead. Your speculation has no more weight than anyone else's at this point.

And since the gift card is for people STAYING at CBR, of course people who change to a DIFFERENT resort wouldn't get it.

We all know how reliable phone CM are...
I wouldn't count on it.

Thanks to you both. Ugh. Don't know if I should try again to get moved. But our dates are in December, so they might not be willing to move us yet. We are saving $525 a room for the week with the $75 per night discount, keeping free dining plus if we also get the $25 per night gift card?

We have 2 rooms with 4 adults traveling. We don't expect to be at the resort much truthfully. We won't have to pay for food plus the gift card will cover the table service tips. It might actually be worth it to just stay put.
It sounds like a good deal. I would stay put if I were you. Enjoy your discounts! :)

Thanks! The total cost is important to DS & DDIL at this point due to some expected home repairs. So unless the unthinkable happens & free dining at FQ pops up for December, we'll be staying put. And I'm just thrilled DDIL is as excited about this trip as I am!

You won't get the $25 GC if you already got a $75 discount. There will be notes in your reservation.
The email advising of the $25 gift cards makes no mention of not receiving it if you were already offered the $75 room discount, so to say you won't get it is pure speculation on your part. I will be bringing the email with me and present to the CM in case of any disagreement at check in though

All of this as of right now is speculation unless someone has it in writing that you would receive the $25 GC and the credit . I don't think they would want to send an email that said unless you already got other compensation because that would open the gates that people can get more than that and people would demand it and they will run to whole other problem.

I was at CB, moved to POR at a small upcharge, once I heard about the compensation I called back. I've been moved back to CB, 75.00/night discount, 25.00 gc per night and 3 days of anytime fast passes. I spoke with a CM and a supervisor. I have no doubt that I am receiving both the discount and gc-it was made very clear to me several times to see that I was ok with the compensation being noted and fully understood before they changed back my reservation.

In your case that is what they told you, but if anything is certain of this situation it is that there is no consistency. All I am saying is that if you already got the $75 credit and they have not given that specific person the ok that you will get both then you shouldn't count on that to make the decision if you stay or you move.

The difference is you called and you were moved back and accepted that as compensation some people called and accepted the $25 GC for compensation and some called and accepted the $75 and some people were not offered the $75 at all. I think that all of the people deserve the same treatment and $25 GC a night is not nearly enough and I do hope that every single you are right and get both, but I would hate to go on my vacation expecting both because of what I read here and be disappointed when it doesn't turned out to be that and have to waste precious vacations time and the aggravation that may bring. Unfortunately CM give the wrong information all the time and it ends up being the guest that pays for it.

So I was really stressing out about my trip to Disney. Taking my grandson for his 5th bday. His first trip. Had ressie @ CBR in standard room. Called Disney this morning. Moved me to POR and upgraded me to preferred room. I am satisfied. And now I can go back to looking forward to our trip
POR is lovely...we have had a few stays there and all have been great! The pool area & the boat to DTD are great!!

Am I wrong in assuming that if you received a letter about receiving the $25 per night gift card for your stay, that you qualify for it regardless of check in/out date? Our dates are 4/19-4/29. I am bringing a print out of the email with us just in case.

As an FYI, this was posted on the Disney Travel Agent site this morning:

In an effort to continually improve the Guest experience, we often refresh our offerings and atmosphere. We recently announced exciting changes that will be made at Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort at Walt Disney World® Resort beginning May 1, 2017-June 30, 2018.

During this time, Old Port Royale Food Court, Shutters at Old Port Royale, Banana Cabana Pool Bar and Calypso Trading Post will be closed for refurbishment. There will be a variety of dining options available to your Clients for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Centertown, a dining location, will serve a Caribbean-style buffet for breakfast and a la carte offerings for dinner. A selection of grab-and-go meals will be conveniently available for purchase throughout the day in three island markets located in the Aruba, Jamaica and Martinique regions of the Resort.

Our in-room dining will remain available. The menu includes pizza, sandwiches and pasta. Disney Dining Plans will be accepted for these offerings and dining locations will make every effort to assist with dietary needs. Please note that your Clients will still be able to make a splash at our feature pool—Fuentes del Morro—or at one of our leisure pools during their stay.

As a token of our gratitude, upon arrival to the Resort, your Clients will be receiving a $75 Disney Gift Card per room for each night of their stay. If your Clients were previously offered a $25 Disney Gift Card per room for each night of their stay, this will replace that offer. This gift card can be used at participating Walt Disney World Resort Food & Beverage and Merchandise locations, Disney Store locations in the United States, DisneyStore.com and MyDisneyPhotoPass.com. For complete terms and conditions please visit DisneyGiftCard.com.

If your Clients would prefer to move to a different Disney Resort hotel, we will be offering Disney’s Port Orleans Resort - Riverside, Disney’s Port Orleans Resort - French Quarter, Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa, Disney’s Art of Animation Resort and The Cabins at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground at no extra cost. The option to move to one of these hotels is subject to availability. Guests who want to move to any other Deluxe Resort will be charged the appropriate room upgrade. Please note the $75 per room per night Disney Gift Card will not be offered to Guests who move to another hotel.

Not sure if this has been mentioned or not (didn't see it but I skimmed a bit):

For those that book going forward they are offering a $75 gift card per night ( I bolded the below amount), some might be interested in that. This is mentioned on their site under See Details Link - This Resort hotel is undergoing refurbishments. See Details:

Pardon Our Pixie Dust
In an effort to make future visits even more magical, Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort is being reimagined!
Please note that noise will be heard while our resort is undergoing refurbishments, but noise should not be heard from Guest rooms between dusk and 9:00am daily. We appreciate your patience and apologize for any inconvenience this work may cause.

Pool Closure
The Trinidad South Village Pool will be unavailable for your enjoyment until mid-March 2017. During this time, you can make a splash at our feature pool—Fuentes del Morro Pool—or any of our 5 other leisure pools.

Dining & Marketplace Closures
Beginning in May 2017, the following venues will be closed for refurbishment: Old Port Royale Food Court, Shutters at Old Port Royale, Banana Cabana Pool Bar and Calypso Trading Post.

Had not heard these. I imagine this is to handle the families of 5 with AoA SUITE or Cabin.

Has anyone told at what point these moves/gift cards will no longer be on the table? At what point will you just have to accept you booked in to a construction zone?

The Cast Member I just spoke to said the gift cards would be available until construction ends. But like everything else we've seen over this past week, who knows if that will stick or not.

But "what" construction? My thinking is when Centertown is done, then all your dining is back plus a new restaurant, and the main pool is no longer disrupted by the construction noise.

BUT there will still be a couple years construction with the demo of the north villages and the construction of this "tower". And with the construction at both entrances .... likely it will be considered a "different resort" and technically no longer construction at CBR.

Guests will still be hearing and seeing construction .... but I don't see them offering this credit during that time. They aren't offering the credit at CSR that is having demo and a tower constructed.

Good point @HopperFan. She did not specify the construction or time frame, and I did not think to ask. This whole situation is just crazy. And it's just astounding that they keep changing their story and compensation. I'm waiting to hear back from this same Cast Member so I'll see what other information I can get from her.

Agree-I think it will just be until all food/recreation offerings return.

If a party of 2 moved to Saratoga Springs, do you think they would just get a studio? We're interested in moving, but not if it's to a studio. Thoughts?

Is anybody actually going to stay put and accept the $75.00 GC-looks like everyone is geeting out of Dodge!lol

I'm thinking of staying put.
