Received email about closings at CBR - help!!

I'm waiting for the UK office to open before phoning today. I've not had any emails relating to our stay July 27 - August 10 but even so far out I'm beginning to panic that the construction (which will be well under way by then) and any lack of facilities will impact on our enjoyment of the trip. As I've just checked with our airline to find that our flights are non-refundable, I'm really hoping that we can switch to another resort.
The holiday is only affordable because of the free dining / $200 dollar gift card / ultimate tickets I got when I booked during the free dining window so if it's a choice between paying a lot more to switch or staying in a resort which resembles a construction site I'll be spending the next 5 months feeling uneasy about our trip, even with the $25 per night compensation which I assume is being offered to anyone who stays at CBR :-(

So I was really stressing out about my trip to Disney. Taking my grandson for his 5th bday. His first trip. Had ressie @ CBR in standard room. Called Disney this morning. Moved me to POR and upgraded me to preferred room. I am satisfied. And now I can go back to looking forward to our trip

I had exactly the same experience this morning when I called. I'm so much more relaxed and excited than I was this morning

CM on the phone was adamant about them no longer offering $75 per night credit. Asked for supervisor, she said she was a supervisor. Figured I would take the move to other resort rather than take a chance that mods fill up and I get stuck at CBR with only $175 in GC. Plus more important to me that my grandsons trip is special and magical. Construction walls all around CBR would surely dampen the magic

May I ask you both when you are going & if you were originally booked with any type of discount? If you were, did they let you keep the discount when they moved you? We are going in December on a free dining bounceback. They would not move us & let us keep the free dining because they said POR & FQ were not originally available with our dates & discount. Wouldn't budge but at last I got the $75 off per night. Really wanted to move tho.

Exactly how much construction is going on at CBR? We booked a pirate themed room hoping the construction was minimal. But now, I'm seeing posts about the food court being closed??

We're there from 27 July to 10 August. We booked as soon as the free dining offer opened to UK guests in April 2016. We also qualified for 14 day tickets for the price of 7 day tickets, $200 gift card and free memory maker. It's the best deal Disney do for UK visitors and is really popular. We've kept all of our discounts / benefits according to the revised invoice I received a few minutes after the switch was confirmed verbally.

I was most surprised when I called this morning when there was absolutely no attempt to persuade me to stay at CBR, none of the arguments / requirements to speak to a supervisor as others have experienced. Just a straight out offer to move us to POR at no extra cost. The poor CM sounded as if she'd already had the same conversation 20 times today. Some days even being a CM must suck :-/

Thanks to you both. Ugh. Don't know if I should try again to get moved. But our dates are in December, so they might not be willing to move us yet. We are saving $525 a room for the week with the $75 per night discount, keeping free dining plus if we also get the $25 per night gift card?

We have 2 rooms with 4 adults traveling. We don't expect to be at the resort much truthfully. We won't have to pay for food plus the gift card will cover the table service tips. It might actually be worth it to just stay put.

They offered to move us to POR for like-for-like reservations, or Saratoga Springs. I'm not sure if I'm moving yet, and she suggested I call back in a week or two when call volumes are lower (spent 4 hours on hold!! 2 to get through to one person, who transferred me to another which took another 2 hours), as the offer won't be going anywhere. She said it's valid for anyone staying through December 31.

It sounded like they expected the food court to be back open by July though, and we're traveling in September... I just have a feeling this is really just one phase of a much larger construction project, so even if the food court's open, something else will be closed/more construction later.

You won't get the $25 GC if you already got a $75 discount. There will be notes in your reservation.

I am d big ol Debbie Downer when it comes to worrying about my family comfort on a trip, so I woudl think twoce about accepting that the offer as it was presented to you woudl be available in a few weeks. I imagine something woudl be in place but what? And will it be acceptable to you?

I agree, I wouldn't wait. The offer may still be available, but will there be any rooms left for them to give you? If you think you won't be happy at CBR move now, why you can.

Yes. The food court and table service restaurants will both be closed. They will have a grab and go section set up, and I think I read something about a buffet being offered.

You won't get the $25 GC if you already got a $75 discount. There will be notes in your reservation.

I'm not counting on it. But I have read comments on these threads that it will be given to everyone regardless. Since it's all speculation at this point, I'll keep watching for reports when people start checking in after construction starts.

No way they will just hand GC out unless people complain. If you read back they are offering to everyone that calls. And if the do offer it to everyone it will be to everyone that didn't receive any kind of compensation. Otherwise all those other reservations that were moved will also get the $25 GC which is not the case.

I just called reservations and asked if we could switch to a different resort. They said no problem and offered Saratoga Springs. Not super child friendly, so they offered us a Cars family suite at Art of Animation. It is a value resort, but the family suite will be nice and the child will love it. Free $800 upgrade

Everyone that checks in once the construction starts will get the gift cards. They are completely independent of any other compensation you worked out beforehand.

And on other threads, people report being told by Guest Services that the gift card WILL be given to EVERYONE who checks in at CBR, regardless of discount or calling ahead. Your speculation has no more weight than anyone else's at this point.

And since the gift card is for people STAYING at CBR, of course people who change to a DIFFERENT resort wouldn't get it.
