Wow! Look how big our team is. I am loving this.
Cwnhokie: EEC sounds fun. If I were closer to the East Coast I would love to do all those races.
Gretchen: Sounds like you are really putting the miles in! I am primarily a walker myself. I did the C25K program this fall, and now I add some jogging to my walking. So now I call myself a wogger.
Andrea: The race is Palm Springs is my first for this year. I did the
Disneyland Half last year, and a small 5K, but that is all my racing experience. I was really nervous about my first half. I had nightmares about not being prepared. But things went really well. I should be way more worried about this one, because I really am not ready. Oh well. I will learn how important preparation is.
Katie: Isnt it nice to go home. I dont travel for work anymore and I am glad for it.
Liam: Welcome to the group! It does sound like you will be one of the experts of our group.
Pat: I will be at the DL half this year too. I finally signed up this week. I am not getting a coast to coast, because I havent been able to find the money to go to DisneyWorld yet. I can dream about it though. I will be passing through Vegas on my way to Palm Springs in a couple weeks. We will actually be staying in Mesquite since my father in law lives there.
Jen: Welcome to the team! I am impressed that you are running outside in the cold. I have moved inside since it started to be dark when I get home from work. I am looking forward to the warm weather coming back or at least the longer days.
Diane: Hope you are enjoying your days off.
Rob: I know what you mean about snowy. I havent been outside for miles in a LONG time. My problem has a lot to do with air quality too. We get stuck in yucky inversion here and even when it isnt snowing the air quality is so bad that I dont dare run outside. Yuck. I cant wait for summer!
Sailors_wfe: Isnt the C25K an awesome program? I couldnt run at all (always been a walker) and it was a great way to start adding running without killing myself. I am going to be a wogger for a while, and will probably do intervals. I am going to wing it at my next half. I hope to have a better plan by the Disneyland half in September
Barb (and Bob): Welcome to the team! We are growing so fast! That is great that your DH runs with you. I try to run with mine, but we have such different paces. I try to not worry about time, and just have fun with him, we will see how it goes. He is doing a 5K when I am doing ½. So he can cheer for me.
Joy: Welcome! It is going to take me a while to get to know everyone on the team but I am looking forward to it! I like your goal. I have only done one real race, and I walked, so now I am just hoping that adding a little running will improve my time. I would hate to run and come in slower than walking! Then what would be the point?!?!
As for me: I slept in my own room last night! That is great after a couple of weeks in the guest room while we tried to remodel and paint the bedroom. What a pain, but it looks nice so I will say it was totally worth it.
As far as exercising goes, I have been a royal slacker this week. With having projects every day after work, and just being too tired to drag myself out of bed in the morning I really only got one day in. I am looking forward to a long day tomorrow. Dont know how long. I am aiming for 6, but if I can do more I will. I only have 2 weeks until my half, and I am NOT ready!
I signed up to volunteer at a local marathon here in May. I didnt want to run another half, but found out I can get a get a day give a day ticket for volunteering! Why not. I have some friends and family doing the race, so it will be fun to give them their finisher medals. Then I can use my ticket to upgrade to a hopper when I go to DL for the half marathon. Hopefully my plan works.
