BREAKING: Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin Soft Opens at Magic Kingdom

After revealing the new marquee and taking down construction walls overnight, the attraction has soft opened ahead of its official April 8 reopening.

Though My Disney Experience still shows the attraction has closed for refurbishment and there is no standby wait time, the ride has soft opened.


As seen in the photos above from the morning of Monday, March 30, guests are currently waiting in the standby line. Lightning Lane return times are not currently available.


A sign outside reads, “Join us! Preview the recharged Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin before it official opens.”

I wasn’t planning on popping into MK today, but I’m staying at BLT and I’m interested. Is it totally slammed?

In line to off ride in 18 minutes!! The scenes are essentially the same with some slight facelifts. Everything is beautiful, the new blasters extremely accurate with no question whether or not you have hit the target, and my favorite, bonuses! I figured out about halfway through that hitting the same target repeatedly can get you a x2 and they give out a final bonus at end for numbers of targets hit. I loved that the cars also have one red and one green laser, really helped knowing which one is your beam.

10/10 upgrades without losing any of my childhood nostalgia!!

Posted wait 25 mins. Boarded our car in 18 mins. The new ride is amazing!!! The lasers are so much easier to see and aim. It’s a lot more similar now to Toy Story where you can see what you hit. Very fun !

Magic Kingdom's Buzz Lightyear soft opened again at 9am. Daily soft opens seem likely until April 8.

Soft openings are great (keeping in mind that they are not guaranteed and the ride can close at any time) as it means the attraction does not have LL so the standby queue moves at a much better pace! To all those able to ride - enjoy!!

I'm actually surprised, although it seemed like it was getting late to do a preview. Maybe due to the timing of hitting Easter week? Takes extra CMs to police entrance to a preview. Will be very interesting to see how they handle BTMRR.

Yes. I saw in a post today that BTMRR is running with weighted vehicles which is a great step in the right direction!

Inside the Refreshed Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin Photos Store at Tomorrowland

Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin Photos has reopened at Magic Kingdom with updated merchandise sections and a refreshed layout.



The gift shop serves as the exit shop for Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin and houses the Mission Control PhotoPass display area where you can preview your on-ride photos.






The store now features dedicated merchandise sections for different Toy Story characters and themes, including Buzz Lightyear, Woody, Jessie, and Pizza Planet.




Merchandise includes apparel, toys, plush characters, accessories, and themed items from across the Toy Story franchise. The Pizza Planet section features the iconic red and white checkered branding from the films.




The store is now open as part of the Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin soft opening period but officially reopens on April 8 along with the attraction.

From what I've read, it has opened at 9:00 a.m. both days.
