Reassurance about Fidelity please! Final update page 8--we are in!

Neither- I called DVC administration. Now to figure out how to maximize borrowing and banking so as not to drive the CE's nuts when I call in--I just realized that using different accounts for different nights will have to be booked as separate transactions. Even though they can be linked, it's more opportunity for things to get screwed at check-in. Well, at least we have extra points to work with--we'll figure out the details as we go along lol.

Oh, happy day! Both our membership numbers are listed on the DVC site! Now I can relax about this whole thing lol.

I have been happy with Fidelity so far. Offer was accepted 5/23, passed ROFR 6/6 and I received the closing docs yesterday 6/14. I knew the process was going to take a while but so far it seems faster than I expected. Our closing is going through First American so maybe that is helping.

Sigh. Our offer was accepted on 3/30, and I'm STILL waiting to close. The title company should have received all funds on Friday or Monday, but still no word.
:confused3 I hope it goes better for you!

Doug

Ugh. I'm really getting frustrated. The sellers are dragging their feet on ours. I received an email that all of our stuff had been received around June 2. Been emailing back and forth with First American title and they are waiting on the sellers to send their closing documents. They have to be notarized, and she said it could take a trip to the american embassy since they are in the UK. But from reading all the issues here, I am worried that there are problems. I mean--why wouldn't they already have it taken care of? There is money waiting for them...Everything went so smooth up until now, and I guess I'm just getting uptight because you know, I've just paid them thousands of dollars and they are not coming through with their end......I don't think I would be nearly as worried if I were just waiting on Disney to add it to our account.....

I feel your pain. we have been dealing with a small contract since the end of March and still have not closed.

We just closed and points are in the system for a contract from late March, just after the deadline. The holdup was the seller; they took past the closing date to send their stuff in. Rachel from Fidelity was on them, calling them, answering questions for them. Can't complain. I did find myself being proactive and checking on the status regularly, but she was responsive. Timeshare Title and More was closing agent.

krisnchris,
That's pretty much where we are. We sailed through up until now. Waiting on sellers. :confused3. I can't fault Fidelity at this point. Sellers haven't used any points since 2008(2009's just expired), so I don't think they are in any hurry.

Same as most folks above...sailed through until now. Offer accepted on June 2, passd ROFR on June 15, closing documents received on June 22, confirmed receipt of cheque on June 24, now stalled. I called First American Title on Friday and at first they didn't have a clue who I was or what I was talking about but then they figured it out. After figuring out what I was calling about they told me that they were still waiting on the sellers documents. This makes me a little suspicious as there is no mortgage on the contract so I can't see what is taking so long on the sellers end.

I contacted Rachel at Fidelity and she assured me that she'll be looking into it. Worst part is that they have 201 points that expire at the end of July and we're trying to plan a trip for late September. I know that we can't use the 201 points for that but September availability is getting a bit slim. I would also like to find something to do with the 201 points (sell them cheap, give them away or beg and plead to get them banked).

I have a feeling that the sellers didn't tell Fidelity something and now we're wasting our time. So long as they're not out using the 201 points and they're not just jacking us around I think we'll survive.

Can any of you think why things may be taking a little while?

We're in the system! But now I have another problem--how can I see both memberships on the Disney site? Every time I sign in, it defaults to our original account and I don't see any way to add the new member ship number. Even if I try to log into the site "fresh", it "recognizes" me. Please don't tell me I have to delete all my cookies and saved passwords! I don't remember half my passwords anymore lol.

When you sign into your account click My Vaction Points you should then see something like this
Vacation Points for Member ID number 596******** available to bank at this time.
Vacation Points for Member ID number 625******* available to bank at this time.

Hope this helps.

I found the perfect contract for us at Fidelity. I've been reading on these boards for years, and for the past few months started paying attention to the resale stuff, as we were looking at possibly adding on. I went ahead and made an offer, we'll see. I've seen good and bad about Fidelity, I'm hoping since the March crush is over we'll be okay, but we'll see.....

The March deadline did not bother us, as we would probably pay cash for a cruise, and the others just didn't seem to be that big a deal. I do have some points that were bought directly through Disney that I could do that with if we wanted. We will mainly be staying at DVC resorts, with the possibility of trading out through RCI some. That is possible, right?

I'm a bit nervous right now......

I have been working with Sharon of Fidelity and Cammy of First American Title. I would call and follow up based on what the time frames should be judging from this board; I believe it helped expedite matters. I heard that Cammy was pretty fast from the onset though.

made an offer 5/31
offer accepted 6/1
modifications to the contract made 6/2
all parties signed contract 6/4
sent to ROFR 6/6
Passed ROFR 6/20
Estoppel received 6/23
Closing documents sent to me 6/29
Modifications made to closing docs & re-sent to me 7/1
I sent cashier's check & signed/notarized closing docs 7/1

I hope this is reassuring :)

My experience of this company so far is that there seems to be very little in communication. I emailed them several times with offers on contracts and never received any correspondence and lost the chance of getting the contract. I recently made another offer again the communication was very slow sending several emails a day, eventually managed to get my offer to the seller again had to wait and wait for any form of answer, dont know if thats the sellers fault of the companys.

I personnaly dont know how anyone can run a business if they dont want to answer any queries. Best business you can get is by word of mouth and they certaianly seem to be getting bad publicity, not only on here but on other forums.

Still waiting...

First American Title received our check on June 24 and they're still waiting on the documents from the sellers. I know that there isn't a mortgage on this contract but what gives?!?!?!?

bdtracey--I'm right there with you. Cammy at First American received our check around June 2--we are still waiting for sellers to send their documents. It is very frustrating. I couldn't find a mortgage on the property we're buying either, so I can't figure out why they wouldn't want to send their paperwork back in. :confused3

It is amazing how people can such different experiences.

I was hesitant at first with Fidelity because of the mixed reviews and I am a little concerned about jinxing myself with this post, since I am not done with the process yet, but so far I have been working with Sharon and she has been excellent. Since the moment she sent me an e-mail saying she would love to help me find what I am looking for, she has been really responsive with multiple e-mails per day. I sent in my signed contracts today and we will see how the rest of the process with First American goes, but so far I have nothing but good things to say about Sharon.

We used Sharon at Fidelity and Cammy at First American. Everything went very smoothly and we closed 30 days from when the offer was accepted. I did sometimes have to leave several messages for Cammy before she would call back. I never got the feeling that our case wasn't being worked on. I wouldn't hesitate to use either again.

Email is almost dead, it has been relegated to millions of junk mail messages being sent every minute... In turn, most companies ignore their email or make them the last thing they take care of at the end of the day. If you really want to make a purchase pick up the phone and call them. Do not leave a message, stay on the line and if you get their voice mail call back over and over until you get someone. F is so busy they do not care if they lose your business. Be aggressive.

Just heard back from Rachel...she spoke to the sellers and they're going to overnight their paperwork to First American. We should close tomorrow or early next week, in Disney's system hopefully by the end of next week. We'll have 201 points that expire at the end of the month...hopefully we can figure out something to do with them. I'm hoping against hope that I can somehow someway get Disney to bank them for us. The sellers didn't bank them because they hadn't paid their 2011 maintenance fees. Fingers, toes and eyes crossed in hopes that we'll get a dump truck load of pixie dust dropped on us. If not I'll just try and rent them out for dirt cheap.

I can't speak for "every" business, but I disagree with what you said here. Some companies have spam filters and do check there e-mail on a regular basis.

I have first hand experience with Sharon at Fidelity cheking her e-mail. Maybe you have some other direct experience with Fidelity to go by, but I received responses on average within 20 to 30 minutes with about 10 e-mails back in forth in the same day. Not exactly an end of the day thing for her it would seem.

That being said, if you are anxious it can't hurt to try to call either.
