***This is not a plug for RRS but a quick review in case anyone else is considering an upscale camera support system.***
Really Right Stuff. It's certainly a good name for a company but how is the product? It's really right.
I ordered their small ballhead and lever clamp. The ballhead is good, maybe not that much better than some others, but... it uses RRS lever clamp which *is* that much better than any other I have seen or used.
It doesn't stop there.
One place where almost everyone else fails is the camera plate. One size does not fit all, and most just don't mount securely. RRS makes dedicated plates for each camera, unique and fitted to the contours of the camera. The plate for my 30D couldn't fit better if Canon made it, and is as secure as can be.
Downsides?
RRS knows how to charge for their stuff, it is expensive. Figure $175 for the ballhead/clamp and another $55 for the plate.
The camera plates attach with the usual 1/4-20 screw but it is an Allen head and requires a 5/32" Allen wrench. Be sure to carry the wrench with you, you won't find them at WDW!
Now I'm ready for those long exposures of "Wishes"!
