Yeah, neither were ANY of US. That's why we find it so astounding that he thought it necessary. I do not mean this in a deraugutory way either, it's just one of those things that seems obvious, like-the sky is blue, the Cubbies will never win the World Series, kids love ice cream. In 2010, is it necessary to 'come out?'

To all my gay and lesbian friends, I feel you but, if you happen to be as public a figure as Ricky Martin you can skip the public announcement. We love you, we know you are gay just like we know our own orientation and it's just not a deal breaker or something you need to TELL us.

It's like when my best friend in college came to my house and said, 'there's something I have to tell you.' I looked over my shoulder at him and said in my best humourous tone,'what you came to tell me you're gay?', cause I knew he was since the first 5 minutes I'd known him. And his eyes got really big and he said, 'YOU KNEW?' He was serious. He had not admitted it to himself until a few weeks earlier. I had known him for 4 years, we were very close. He is my son's Godfather. We still laugh that *I* should have told him he was gay...maybe Ricky didn't know, eh?
