Real Princesses Wear Running Shoes - First TR! - March 4-8, 2010

Reading your TR has me very excited about running the wine and dine half in just a month or so!! I am very nervous, because the longest raceI have done has been a 10k...but where better than disney to tackle a half marathon! Thank you so much for sharing your race report and all the pictures along the way :goodvibes

I got wicked emotional as we ran toward the Ticket & Transportation Center. No, I don't harbor a particular fondness for tickets or transportation, but up until this point there hadn't been too many people on the sidelines. It was still early when we started, and a lot of those roads were closed to cars, so it was expected we wouldn't see too many people until we neared the Magic Kingdom.

OMG! I know what you mean! I just recently did my first 10 miler and as I entered the finish line and heard all the cheering, etc., I started to cry! I was so proud of myself! Hahahaha! :rotfl2::thumbsup2 Congratulations on the race -- How exciting -- I would love love love to do the Princess Half Marathon -- It must have been great!

After the race, we made our way back to POR and got breakfast before heading back to the room. I just ran a half marathon, of course I got the Bounty Platter.

I can't go anywhere without making a mess. Don't worry, we wiped the syrupy table down after!

A towel swan greeted us in our room after the race!

Remember my bloody toe? You might want to pass the next few pictures...

It was just a blister and looked much worse than it really was.

A few months before the trip, Jon and Sean talked about seeing a spring training baseball game at the WWOS while we were down there. I was all for it until we changed the start/end dates of our trip and they decided to do the Sunday afternoon game. I knew I wouldn't be up for anything other than laying in my bed, so I passed. After everyone showered, Jon, Sean and Jess left for the game and I settled down in my bed and watched The Sandlot and took a nap. After I woke up, Jon called and said the game was almost over. I gathered my stuff for the evening and took the bus to the Magic Kingdom to meet Jon.

The night before the race, the four of us were in the gift shop at our resort. Now, I had been on a Snickers obsession for months. I would find myself sneaking back to the vending machine at work and buying one, or grabbing a few at the grocery store to stash in my kitchen. I finally had to ban myself from Snickers until after the race! So while we were at the gift shop I bought myself a post-race Snickers! Once the race was over, I was too tired to eat it, so I waited for the perfect time: on bench outside the Magic Kingdom.

Jon called to say that the game had ended and that he had to take a bus from WWOS to Pop Century (I think), and then to MK, but the bus was not coming to PC. Instead of waiting around, I went into the MK to take some pictures until Jon got there.

I got a chance to watch a glass blower!

After 40 minutes, a bus finally showed up! I was glad to see Jon at the MK, but we were both annoyed at how long the bus took.

One of my favorite castle shots from the trip!

The lines were so long for most attractions, we didn't go on too many. We did get to go on the Haunted Mansion and actually saw some friends in line. After that, we spent a good portion of time trying to decide what to have for dinner and eventually ended up going to Cosmic Rays. By the time we finished dinner, it was almost time for Wishes. I went back to the locker to grab my jacket and tripod and then Jon and I went to find a spot to stand. Nan called me to say she and Grandpa John had a spot in front of the castle so we went and met them there. It was still early, so I had plenty of time to set up my tripod away from anyone already there. Sean and Jess had spend the afternoon at DHS and met us for Wishes.

Like every Disney fireworks show, Wishes was amazing! The combo of fireworks, the music, and the memories of the race that morning made me a little teary eyed!

We said goodbye to my Nan and Grandpa John, then the four of us bolted (or hobbled) over to Space Mountain only to see that it was closed! Major bummer. Instead we went to the Monsters Inc Laugh Factory which was really cute. All of us were tired (though my nap helped me, so I could have stayed until the end of EMH) so we made our way to Main Street to leave the park. I did grab a popcorn for the ride home, though.

I think we were all sad to see the trip come to an end, so instead of going right back to our room, we stopped into the POR food court to get some snacks.

Either I was starving, or this was the best pizza in the world.
