Real Life game/fun: Calling for a DisBoard Gamers DisMeet....first week Oct 2013

Allison, you have summarized things very well and are really helping out in a huge way. If you find you don't have room or forget something, I do not leave until Wednesday, so as late as Oct 1, I can add to the list.

I will be getting

Paper Plates
Cups?
Charcoal (2 small bags or one large bag), Matchlight if possible
Feta/Goat Cheese
Pesto
Garlic
Ginger
Vegetable stock
Shrimp
Portobello Mushrooms

My questions
How about a heavier plastic plate?
Fresh Ginger?
Quart of vegetable stock or pint?
Fresh, raw shrimp? How much ?
6 Portobello Mushrooms?

Bobbi, I read through that whole thread about the Grills, the people at BCV have no clue about BBQ tools for borrowing. I have 3-4 sets of BBQ tools here at my house. I will put a spatula and BBQ tongs in my suitcase, the tongs are what I need for the tri tip and PIO can probably use the spatula. We are pitching a large item from our OL this trip, so we will have extra space. We can always take the knives from my 1 Br Villa down to cut the meat. I also have a set of knives in my OL, not sure if there are steak knives in there, but I seem to remember eating my Prime Rib last trip with the knives from the Villa.

I have a pack of throwaway tablecloths all set to go in my suitcase. I also have a pack of 500 plastic forks and spoons that I can toss in my suitcase. Plates and napkins might be all that we need.

Tiffany eats poultry, but not red meat. If I end up tossing the Chicken Sausages in with the TriTip, she mentioned that she likes those.

I can order a dozen eggs with my WeGoShop Order. I need to place that this week. I normally order half a dozen, but it's not that much more expensive to get a dozen, we just don't eat that many eggs. With all the breakfasts we're doing out, my eggs may end up going to waste, so I can cover you there.

I will bring along some Asian style rice, just tell me how much you want. I've got a big bag here (I keep 3-5 kinds of rice on hand and I need to use it up with the move coming up).

I could put the carrots on my grocery order (arriving Sunday night) if Ruthie can't get them, but string beans don't have a very long shelf life, so those should be acquired closer to the day of the cookout.

Also, the string beans we have here in the states are different than what you use. I'm not sure how easily you will find that type here. What you use in your cooking we call "long beans" they are only found at Asian markets, so you'll probably have to use our American Green Beans. I'm sure they will be fine.

Since Ruthie said she could pick up the cake at 4PM on Saturday, maybe you could get the other things and not worry about the cake. That way you can get back to the resort and stake out the grills while Ruthie gets the cake.

The two key things that need to be purchased on Saturday are the shrimp and mushrooms. I realize Publix is pricey, but for these two items, their quality might be better than Walmart, but perhaps as you said, the one you know of is better than others.

PIO - would you like me to add the Carrots, Garlic, Ginger, Vegetable Stock, Pesto and Feta to my delivery order? Those things don't spoil quickly. That would make Bobbi's grocery stop for the fresh items quicker. It would be better if we could get the charcoal after Wednesday when we are all checked in.

I forgot to ask, do you use a fresh pesto or a jarred Pesto? Fresh would spoil quickly and might need to be purchased same day.

Shopping lists:

Anytime:
Paper Plates
Cups?
Charcoal (2 small bags or one large bag), Matchlight if possible
Feta/Goat Cheese
Pesto
Garlic
Ginger
Vegetable stock

Before Friday
Tomatoes
Carrots
String Beans

Saturday
Shrimp
Portabello Mushrooms
Pick up Cake

Did I catch everything?

OK...I see now you were asking PIO about some of the items I put on my list. I will continue to read and adjust accordingly. I will have Nancy for help shopping, I can get as much as we need!!

Let's wait to hear from PIO on this. Some of the things that are on your list can be easily ordered through WeGoShop and will save you time. The main things we need you to get are the Saturday things, and maybe the charcoal.

Only a few things are really fresh sensitive. But I do want to place me WeGoShop order soon so they can guarantee it to arrive the night we get there.

She has her two days in a row work days today so it may be a few days before we hear back from PIO.

Good summary Alison.

Sorry for not responding sooner....work got in the way.

If we could get the Carrots, Garlic, Ginger, Vegetable Stock (cubes would be perfect. I'm not looking for a liquid stock.), Pesto and Feta included in a WeGoShop order, that would be great. Jarred pesto would work.
Alison - I can sort out money with you next week.

Short grain rice would be great and if you want me to put that in my luggage for the road trip, I could do that. It won't spoil. Let's go with 3 - 4 cups?? We can cook it in batches in the micro.

I sent an email off to Publix regarding the cake. The email wasn't helpful; and it would seem that I would need to call them to order the cake. I'm going to need to re-read their email and figure it out.

Ok..

My list will be this, provided the other things will be bought from the shopping service.

6 Portobello Mushrooms
Fresh green beans
Raw Shrimp....how much?
2 bags charcoal - something to light with
Plastic plates
Plastic cups for drinks
Watermelon & other fruit

PIO it may be easier to call Publix when you're in the US. I've ordered a sheet cake from them with just a few days notice.

Allison, Nancy & I enjoy a hard cooked I egg every now and then, we would be happy to pay for and take any extra eggs, if you could boil them. I guess this could be 2-4 eggs. The eggs won't go to waste.

I was just about to say that :thumbsup2 OR you can send all the info to me and I will order it

I can bring paper plates, plastic forks, spoons, and knives, and red solo cups. Will that help? I have lots leftover from the party.

Should I get some 2L or anything like that as well? Will probably be bringing beer for my husband since he is a beer snob:rolleyes:

Not a snob if you're putting those words in the same paragraph as Red Solo Cup :lmao: you KNOW I have that song in my head now ;)

Ok...I will take cups off my list. Will the paper plates hold up to the food?

Bobbi:goodvibes

I think the plates will hold up as we use them for it. They are more cardboard (but not the extra heavy plastic ones).

Similar to the Disney paper plates

I didn't realize a red plastic cup could be anything but SOLO brand ;)

:lmao: oh this is going to be a TERRIFIC night no doubt...so glad we'll be having this time speaking of time I should have been asleep hours ago work tonight :scared1: see you all later

Haha he just said he can still drink out of a red solo cup and be a beer snob if it's a keg. Lol!!
