Is anyone else trying to sell their house????? I was told to bury a St Joseph upside down in the front yard and it will sell quicker. Did anyone else ever do this?
I had never heard of this either until I saw it recently on a local news show which was talking about the slow sales of homes. DD was just about to put her home on the market, so she called a local church which has a gift shop and they had little kits, complete with a small statue, instructions and a prayer. She bought it and followed the directions - it took a few weeks, but the house did sell!!!!! I guess it worked because some people in the area have had their homes on the market for months and aren't having any luck at all!!

I've never heard of this. We sold a house last year. We had an offer from the buyers 14 hours after the realty sign went up in the front yard. We are now in the process of selling our current home (due to relocation). This one took a bit longer to get an offer - 5 whole days! We are closing on Tuesday. We didn't put a St. Joseph (whatever that is) upside down in the front yard. I think our quick offers had more to do with pricing and less to do with superstition.
It' s a small statue of St. Joseph - husband of Mary, the mother of Jesus; Jesus's "foster" father. How he came to be the one to ask for this kind of help is a mystery to me!!!
I want to put one in the yard of the house we are trying to buy. I say trying because verbally our offer has been accepted, but they won't sign the papers. This has been going on for days. Maybe if I put a St. Joseph in the yard, it will work to get the house sold - to us, of course.
THey don't want to sign the papers because they are holding out for a higher offer and keeping you on a string to buy it if n o one else comes through - not very nice of them, don't you think?

I think that is exactly what they are doing. I want to move on and keep looking. I'm willing to let it go because I don't like dealing with these people. Dh is dead set on getting this house.
If this is what they are doing and their realtor is OK with it or encouraging it, it is very unethical (not illegal, but not very nice). DD has had two offers on two different houses outbid after they signed contracts because the realtors kept showing the houses after the contracts were signed. DD said if the sellers came back to them when the other deals came through and said OK now you can have the house, she would have said OK, but now I'm lowering my offer. That didn't happen, but I think just saying it made them feel better. Good luck!!!!!! Things like this usually happen for a reason - hopefully there is another, better house just around the corner and you will be better off. I hope!!!!!!
