In the past, we have sailed DCL for our Anniversary. So, we have received the traditional cake they serve for special occasions. Is there a way to order a "real" birthday cake with buttercream icing for my DD5's birthday? She is celebrating her actual birthday onboard. princess:

:flower3: Any contact information and/or pictures of cakes would be greatly appreciated.

 Also, any suggestions on how to make her day extra special onboard? It will be an "At Sea" day. She is too young for the Vista Spa. So, manicures/pedicures are out of the question.

:goodvibes I look forward to your responses.

I can't answer your question exactly...but do know you can purchase a package that they will decorate your room with decorations and you will have a cake in your room. We ordered the Bon Vogage package for our girls but there was a option to order the Birthday package instead. The cake was round and decorated with a White Choclate in the shape of the Magic along with fresh strawberries and sprinkles...it was yummy! Also the decorations in the room were very cute! Our 3 & 5 year olds loved it!

Maybe you can see if tea with Wendy or Alice is offered on your sea day...sound like a fun thing to do...

Not trying to be funny, but this was a thread just this morning.... I know the DIS is busy, but it can not be any more than one page down.

We have been on numerous Disney Cruises and each one just so happens falls where it is the actual day of a celebration in our family. Our next two scheduled cruises, mine is the first sea day and DS's is the 4th day. Last cruise was my birthday and cruise before that was our actual 10th anniversary. So, you get the picture. Really people think I plan it that way, but it really does just happen. I went down last cruise and asked, "when is the next 7 day DD" & just by chance DS b-day.

If you have sailed before, you know of the birthday celebration package the previous poster spoke of for embarkation day. But the cake you now get in the dining room is probably a little different than it was for your anniversary. If you got the yellow cake with that jelly strawberry stuff on the top? They have now been actually doing more cake size celebration cakes. There are two differnet types and actually writing names on them. (Depends on your party size at the table which type you get). They have improved. She still gets her button and the happy birthday song from the staff. You can not order a cake. I have tried MANY MANY times. I even use the "but my daughter is allergic and will die" line and they just adjust the cake based on what they want to do. I was told once by a staff member, if you realized how many birthdays we have on each given day, we would have to hire a staff person just to take care of cake orders. So I do understand. I have to say, our last cruise we did have at least four a night; no joking... So just know they are now new and improved, but no special ordering allowed. They are presented at the end of your dinner service.:goodvibes Be sure to note it on your reservation and they will take care of it for you on the actual day.

:thumbsup2 I read back a pages and saw that thread. Thanks for the heads-up. :sad2: However, it honestly was of no help to me. I may end up bringing our own cake onboard or bring a cake topper and candle for the cake they provide. However, I find it odd they don't offer a personalized order for birthday cakes onboard (Especially, if it is the child's actual birthday). They would make a killing money-wise. ;)

DD5 and I did the Tea With Alice on our last cruise. It was "okay". I don't think she'd want to sit through it again.

However, I'm still determined to get her a REAL cake for her actual birthday. Even if I have to go to the buffet and pick-up five pieces of cake or order a whole "cake of the day" from room service. Wait I just had an idea, order a cake from room service. Would they let me order the whole cake????? Then, I could put the candles and topper on it.

I did contact DCL about the personal birthday cake and am now waiting for their response . . . :rolleyes1 (doesn't hurt to ask.)

A few years ago I ordered a cake for my niece through Shirley (Perfect GIft). It was a real cake, decorated with her name and Mickey Mouse decor. It came with napkins, hats, plates, etc. and was waiting in the room when we boarded.

If Shirley still does cakes, you could have one delivered to the room and hide it until the real day. I am sure it would keep nicely.

:thumbsup2 That a great idea. I've heard about Shirley and her great gift baskets. I didn't know she could delivery a cake too. I'll check into it. Thanks! :goodvibes

The cakes are now actually whole cakes. PM me your e-mail and I will send you a picture of mine. Or I can pm you another Disney Member web site that I have posted the picture of mine. Now mine was a little different as they made it egg free for my DD to have some. My cousin's three year old got a choc. whole one and her sister got a white whole one. They put "Happy Birthday ------- (the child's name)" on the cake.

Believe it or not, I think there are a lot of people who cruise on their actual birthdays. My family are big cake people, so I totally agree with the ability to order a personalized cake. I was just told by DCL if they did that, they would have to hire a person just to do cakes. I just want you to know they have gotton better than the last time you got one. I actually think you will be a little impressed if you compare it to what they use to do. BTW- did you know you are not suppose to bring cakes on board. You may get away with it, but are not suppose to do it. Will not be able to just walk on board with it. So, I think I would just bring the cake topper if you want, but this may mess up the writing they put on the cake now. Just my thoughts. If ordering from Shirley (which I did not know she did cakes), I do not think it would hold for more than a couple of days. Our Wedding one starting to go bad and my birthday one after a day and a half. I guess it does not matter since you can not bring it off the ship anyway. I do agree though I would pay big money for a cake on the ship too. Let me know if you can convience them.;)

My DD will turn 6 while on our cruise in Oct. I ordered her some Mickey Ears that say Happy Birthday on the front (Ebay) and have confetti on the ears. I also did a door magnet with Pluto, her favorite. Since we drive down, I do not have to be as concerned with space in my bags, so I am bringing some of her presents. I will put them out in our room after she goes to sleep, so it will be a surprise when she wakes up. Just some little things to make her day special...!

And of course, DCL is celebrating her birthday (according to her) by shooting off fireworks at her party on Pirate night! :lmao:

Hmmm. I went to a cake decorating seminar on board the Magic in May with the top pastry chef, and I'm pretty sure I remember him saying they had a pastry chef who did nothing but decorate celebration cakes all day! :confused3 He also said that there is a chef who does nothing but bake chocolate chip cookies the entire week. :rotfl: Plus, the cookie guy's assistant for the day is whoever hasn't been behaving well in the kitchen (pulling pranks on the chefs and such). :rotfl2: I'm sure I would gain weight just smelling those kitchens!!! :lovestruc

:cloud9: I like to bake chocolate chip cookies and love the way it makes the house smell. However, if I had to do it all week and nothing else, I don't think I'd like chocolate chip cookie anymore.

When I was younger, I worked at an ice cream shop for the summer. I would have ice cream all up my arms from trying to scoop from the bottom of the tubs and had a hard time keeping my apron clean. After looking at so much ice cream, I didn't like it quite so much by the end of the summer.

I have since recovered. :mickeybar

Great thread...my dd is turning 6 on our "at sea" day in Sept on the Wonder. I've been trying to decide what to do. I had some door signs made for her by Brooklyn (here on the DIS). Thanks for the info!

My DD is also turning 6 on our At Sea day on the Wonder (September 23rd). You aren't on the DVC Member cruise are you? That would be an even a bigger coincidence. ;)
