Ready to sell DVC, not happy with it

I think if check in is at 4pm we need to stop rushing housekeeping. I think they are doing a lousy rush job because people are screaming at the CM in the lobby that their rooms aren't ready at 11am. They need to be allowed to clean the rooms throughly.

I doubt that. There are many, many hotels that are able to do an excellent cleaning job in their rooms well before 4 pm. DVC used to do a great job with housekeeping and maintenance. It's all about maximizing profits now and unless members speak up instead of making excuses for them, it won't get any better.

I was wondering the same thing. By the way, I'm a he.

:lmao: I find one thing on the Dis forum is that we (general we) do not take criticism of disney well. God Forbid you say that housekeeping was lax or cm's were not knowledgable, I find you will get 5000 responses on how this was really your fault and you should thank the heavens that Disney is allowing you to spend your money there.

Don't even think about criticizing the Polynesian on the resort forum. :scared1:

Good for you Op, I think it's time Disney is made fully aware in the distinct lack of quality it has been offering.

Here's a NEW totally off the wall idea. HIRE enough mousekeepers so they can do a thorough cleaning and not take until 7:00 pm. :rotfl:

Take a break and the joy will come back.:thumbsup2

I agree..head out to California and see the original and stay in the Deluxe New Villas at the Grand Californian :)

Did I read somewhere that housekeeping was contracted out? I think that if that is the case. B I G mistake.

Surveys show that the majority of DVC members (including me) are generally happy and satisfied with their DVC membership.

While you may be in the minority, that doesn't matter. If you are really that unhappy with DVC, then I would sell it. Good luck with your decision.

I think this is the main reason DVC is getting away with poor service and not listening to members. So many members stick their heads in the sand and look past the poor quality DVC is putting out. Instead of them selling, how about they get the standard of facility they paid GOOD money for and do every year with dues. We love going to Disney and staying on property so we've staying with DVC, but I'm under no illusion about their standards. If there was another option I would look at it, but of course there is not.

I agree 100%, I shake my at the all too often reaction of shoot the messenger. I travel a decent bit for business and I've never run into some of the housekeeping issues and room upkeep issues at hotels even remotely in the same price range as DVC resorts. As an example I stayed at the Royal Pacific on property at Universal for a trade show and it was far nicer than anything on Disney property. I'm not a Universal guy at so I'm not advocating going their for vacation, but if they can do that level of quality in Orlando, why can't Disney?

I do not think that MS is getting away with poor service and I think that DVC does listen to and respond to members. We've not had a sloppy DVC room upon check in, but if we did, we could deal with it.

In the post that I am quoting, you seem to be blaming people who have not had bad experiences as the reason for the bad experiences. This does not make sense to me.

Huh? The majority of DVC members are satisfied with their membership and the quality of service that DVC provides, and you see that as "the main reason why DVC is getting away with poor service"? That simply does not make sense to me.
:confused3

My head isn't in the sand. We have had nothing but great experiences with our DVC membership. Don't generalize about other members and their experiences because it makes your opinion just about worthless.

I think given the sheer number of rooms at WDW the percentages will tell you that everything will NOT be perfect in EVERY room, however as others have said you don't hear about all of the good stays, but you do hear about most of the bad ones. Kind of like an umpire - you forget about the 200 balls/strikes that he called correctly but remember the one pitch that you disagreed with.

I don't think anyone's out to get anyone here, but I do think that on a site comprised of Disney die-hards that I wouldn't necessarily expect everyone to just agree with someone critical of something they love.

Are there things that other resorts/chains do better than Disney ? Absolutely, but there are also things that Disney does better than the other chains too (IMHO). Just a balancing act of what's most important to you.

Chris

Just to echo the past few posts - we have never been given reason to complain about any aspect of our DVC (or non-DVC) stays.....nothing but clean, well-kept rooms, cheerful cast members, and magical experiences all around. We have stayed at each of the WDW DVC resorts (other than BCV) so our experiences are not relating to just one resort.

Believe me, if I had reason to contact Member Satisfaction, or resort management, I would not hesitate to do so.....:goodvibes

I agree - DL has magic too....and different magic.

Staying at the Grand Cali and walking into the park from the hotel is great....5 minutes into DL.

The REAL magic is it was the original. This is the place which Walt built. Stand on the stones he stood on.....ride the rides he created.

Take the Walk in Walt's Footsteps tour.

There is a different magic in this petite little oasis in the middle of all the hustle and bustle.

And to top it off.......THE GRAND CALIFORNIAN IS GEORGOUS!

LOL - and the Royal Pacific provided DH and I with one of our most noteable housekeeping issues ever. DH LOVES his coffee. Went to make some on our first morning in the little coffee maker in the room and found there was left over coffee w/ a nice bunch of mold growing in it! I've traveled a lot staying at both dives and 4-5 star hotels. I've seen issues at all of them. But Universal - we still talk about that!

Ok this is very simple. DVC love it or leave it. If you can't live with the few problems dvc has i'm sure the timeshare store would be glad to list your points for you. I love Dvc falts and all. Best money I ever spent. Life is to short to be unhappy. If your not happy SELL. I'm not sure everyone posting on this thread are DVC or just a few trying to start a bunch of trouble. How about we stop the DVC bashing tread. If you have a problem call the satisfaction team.

Actually the majority of the people on the DIS are pro Disney and DVC and repeatedly post that they can do no wrong.

A newbie trying to learn about the DVC is often given the impression that there aren't any problems with the DVC and I feel that is an injustice. Only after buying do they find the short comings of the program and to some it's quite a shock.

As important as it is to be happy, it's equally important to post the truth, good or bad.

I agree with your post 100%

We were at SSR last December and to tell you the truth if that was our home resort we would have sold the next day. I never posted anything about the condition of the resort/rooms we stayed in because I didn't want to get jumped on but it was REALLY BAD. The water bottle full of cigarette butts on the floor when I opened the curtains is what I was looking at when I heard the crash. My wife had opened the closet door and as she turned around to grab something it fell on her. The dirty diapers on the sidewalk were a nice touch but after three days I ended up picking them up so we didn't have to keep looking at them. The couch was so worn out and dirty I wouldn't have let a dog sit on it. On day four of a seven day trip we got a fridge that worked :hippie: But I think they stole it from a budget board fridge swap because it was all dented up and dirty :rotfl2:.

We're not hard people to please but that was just a little much for my taste. AKL has one chance to change our minds about DVC or we'll just take the loss and go back to getting free upgrades and free food :thumbsup2
