I think it'll depend on who you have as a carrier. I know some carriers are better than others when it comes to indoor stuff. Plenty of times I have perfect signal, but someone right next to me with a different carrier has no signal at all
correct, I have metro PCS

BG's still available at 9:06. I love that it's lasting longer! I do think crowds haven't seemed as bad there this week, so maybe we'll have to wait and see what next week brings?

I did my first practice this morning at 8:45, just to see what I would get and was surprised that I was able to get through. Tried a moment ago again and it's in the back ups.

So dumb question-since I was able to get through at 8:45 from where I am, does that mean that everyone who tried in the parks got through? Seems like they would have if there was room for me. For our May trip I have several mornings planned to be at DHS to try for a BG, fingers crossed it will be as easy as that.

yes, bg are still open as of 9:18, once they are completely booked you won't see the red button or the ability to join a bg anymore, you can look at post 2 for the chart that will tell you how long bg have lasted every day

Oh absolutely they got through. Or, if they had a major app malfunction, they've had PLENTY of time to get help from the GET cm's.

Today's practice yielded same consistent result at waiting till 8:00:03, and being able to see the red button. However, it was also the first time I noticed that from our family of 4, my little one had disappeared from the selection, until the backup started showing up at 8:01. Weird glitch indeed, and I had only read people describe it here until now, but never experienced it myself.

bg gone at 9:21
first bg called was 2
backup bg start at 63

I think ANYTHING more than 5-10 minutes is a fantastic amount of time for BG's to last! But, 81 minutes is even better! We would all love for that to continue for a long time to come, I'm sure. I think about the families that were trying so hard to get there by park open but one or more members were really dragging their feet or kids were having mini meltdowns or whatever, what a pleasant surprise for them to arrive "late" at 8:45 or something and find out they can still get a boarding group! Obviously that only helps if the ride has a good day, but wow that would improve the mood quickly.

You can really see what a difference lower crowds make, eh? Yesterday touringplans tracked Hollywood Studios at a level "3 / 10." Compare that to the 10/10 crowds two weeks ago with all boarding passes gone in one minute, and you start to see the importance of planning trips around a crowd calendar, lol!

seems to vary, I thought that report from BlogMickey yesterday said that they didn't start it early yesterday after having started it early on opening day ... something to watch for sure
I think he said they didn't open MMRR at 7, so he went off to scope out some other things. I read another report that they did open it at 7:45.

Before DS was real school age we used to always go the last week of Feb, which was usually the week after the Princess Half. We used to say it was a “Magic week” right before the spring break season hit. It was always a fantastic time to go - we got so spoiled - and is pretty much how we got hooked on WDW.

This year Mardi Gras week was that week. We weren’t there, but from reports and wait times, it certainly didn’t look like a magical week in terms of crowds. Rather, this week has looked more like what we used to experience.

While unscientific of course, I keep my eye on the 2020 Spring Break poll (if you haven’t voted, go vote!): https://www.disboards.com/threads/official-spring-break-2020-poll.3740812/

Which of course graphs how we’re about to get more into the thick of Spring Break season for a bit.

Will be interesting to continue to watch RotR BG experiences through more new seasons.

I will be interested in more first hand reports like this with different arrival times. Our trip is coming up in two weeks and we don’t have a FP for MMRR so our hope is to be able to rope drop MMRR and get a BG for ROTR. We are staying at the Boardwalk and can time our arrival at DHS easily, but I’d rather not have to get to DHS as early as 6 AM if arriving at 6:30 would get us off MMRR before 9. I’d also rather not be in the building when the BG lottery starts, though we might have someone at home who could help us.

I'll add my experience when we go on Wednesday next week. We will definitely not be arriving before 6:00 (likely 6:30-7). We plan to rope drop MMRR and also do not want to be in the building when we are getting our BG.

I can tell you data works perfect inside the building and on the ride, so if worst comes to worst you should still have a good chance

I just want to caution people about this. You are using Metro PCS per your other post. Anyone who has Metro PCS can absolutely trust this data and it's highly relevant and very useful. For people with any other carrier, it's meaningless unless you know that Metro PCS shares towers with your carrier.

It would be great if other people could post their experiences and carriers. You don't have to test this at BG time, just any time you're in the MMRR building, see how your connection is and post your experience and carrier. That would really help people decide what to do at RD.

Want to thank everyone for replying to my post. Seems like maybe I am doing it correctly after all. Probably putting to much pressure on myself. I just for some reason thought I read thatYou get assigned a BG.From what I’m reading in previous posts it sounds like I’m lucky I’ve been getting the red banner every single time I attempt to join. Keeping our fingers crossed. Thanks again to everyone

from experience using data for live streaming inside the ride. My connection never faltered either in the queue or on the ride. I mean you make your own decisions though, obviously
If it's not too much to ask, one time when you're inside the MMRR building, would you mind turning off your data and seeing what kind of wifi connection you get? I'm pretty sure I'm going to be restricted to trying to get a BG using Disney wifi so trying to plan out our options.

That being said, we're not going until September so this could all be for naught by then depending on what they are doing with RotR by then.

Thanks!!

I've practiced for awhile now and today was the first day that I did not get all my F&F to show up (only 1 of 3 showed).
I practiced again this am. I didn’t wait after 8:00, just hit as soon as it turned, and the button was immediately red. But this time I was the only person on my list, the rest of my f&f were missing. I went ahead and went back and forth a couple of times to see what would happen, but in order to get the rest to show up I had to force close the app and reopen. Then they were all there.
I've been practicing for our April trip for awhile. Today was the first day that the other 2 in my party weren't showing up, only me.

The ride just went down. We were just evacuated off and they’re giving everyone fastpasses to return to ROTR later.

I've been practicing on and off for a while now and today was the first time that my f&f group was missing. I'm glad it happened because it really threw me off there for a moment. We are there in a little over a week. It's just me and my daughter this trip and she was missing today. I guess if it happens day of I'll just get a BG for me. Today though I restarted the app and she showed right up. It was backup BGs by then though.

I was on MMRR at 8am yesterday, half way thru the attraction (very cool by the way) and all 4 groups of people on my train got RotR boarding passes - groups 3, 4, 12, 14. We were all really excited.
Were you on the wifi or on data? And, if data, which provider?

Took an Uber from BW at 7. Got through security and tapstiles 7:15. Stood in Starbucks line. Got coffee and stood outside Starbucks. Three phones ready to go. Of course my 20 yr old who has never practiced won and got 25!!! So amazing. Well worth getting up at 6 for
