Thanks for that link. I was just wondering if its be possible to incorporate a downtime metric in the chart. It's pretty loaded as it is, but it'd kinda be nice to see overall reliability based on % up time.

If you’d like to suggest a way to capture/track that in a simple formula that would take <30 seconds to find/enter every day, I’m all ears!

Just speaking for myself, I’m personally less concerned with ride uptime/downtime (seems impossible to track and could be all over the place) and more concerned with the technical joining a BG / # of BGs called process. The thrill-data link I provided above has lots of charts on ride operations (scroll down the page for more detailed charts) - to me they are providing the most simple/effective way to visualize uptime/downtime on a daily basis (and it’s in charts so easy for dumb people like me).

Gosh, this whole thing stresses me and we are still weeks away from going! We haven't been in 11 years and will be at HS on my actual 40th birthday and are huge Star Wars fans!

Today was our big day after months of excitement and practicing at home. Despite doing everything right, we got backup BG 69. It’s insanely crowded and unfortunately not a great day for ROTR. Doesn’t look like we’re going to ride. Very disappointed but we’ll try again Thursday and are hoping to do better on a non-weekend. Details: we had one iPhone 8 and one 6. Closed the app, opened at 7:56. Tapped find out more at exactly 8:00:00. Had to select 5 people from our family. I couldn’t remove the other 11 from our list because they’re all on the trip with us. I went as fast as I could but I think that’s what did us in. Think good thoughts for us on Thursday!

Rename the people who want a bg so the name starts with AA, putting them at the top; or if one of the people who wants a bg doesn’t have a MDE account, use pp’s suggestion and create one, adding as friends only the people who want a bg. Have everyone log into that account on their phone to try to get a bg.

I have 12 weeks to go...just booked a 9am reservation at Topolinos in Riviera Resort on my HS day. I don't know that I'll follow through with it, but it sounds more relaxing than the boarding group dash, lol.

Yeah, im afraid something like that would never be a simple formula, lol. Itd probably need to be minutes down for day divided by total operating minutes for the park to get % downtime.

But I agree, no need to add more data to the chart when thrilldata has a graph.

Probably one or more of the travel group 11 don't already have (or much use) an MDE? You could set an MDE up for that person and use it just for BG bagging. Include only the BG folk and you'll be hitting "Select All" and moving on like greased lightning.

You are right, I should have done this. I didn’t expect it to be QUITE as crazy as it was today. My plan was going to be to remove everyone else for Thursday since they’re leaving anyway, but we ended up getting to ride (yay!!) and then being evacuated. We got fastpasses that I was able to move to Thursday thankfully. Thanks to all for the help, I felt so prepared going into today!

So we have to use Rider Swap (if we get a BG). Looks like we are looking at about 2 hours for both of us to be able to ride. How does that work with other FP's we have booked? Are we just out of luck and will miss out on them?

Also, I know we can't hold more than one RS at a time... so even if the first group rode, then we used a FP, we wouldn't be able to get a RS for that ride?

I heard BG 16, 23 etc. for me and my husband, the app still said Land is Currently Closed even at 8:03am. It never turned red. We kept restarting the app. Went to the blue umbrellas and CM did they distributed all the BG within 40 seconds yesterday. When I practiced at home, I was able to get the red Join BG, but not in the parks. We will have two more tries on this trip but feeling discouraged.

From our December experience, the type of phone you have and service you use made a HUGE difference in success rate. Also NOT being on Disney WiFi increased your chances of getting a BG. Don't know if that is still true today but may have been part of your issue. The problem is easily identified if you notice your phone running slower than normal while on Disney properety. Good luck and hope you are successful in the next couple days. The ride is awesome!

Take a screenshot the first moment this happens, if it happens again. There have been stories of people taking screen shots of not being able to get a bg within the first mn of park open, showing that pic to GET, and being assigned a BG. After you take the screenshot, completely close the app and re-open- that seems to fix it for most. I can’t have my app open before park open- BG never shows up.
