We are group 89. We are currently waiting in the holding area with the numbers that haven't been called. They are telling people that groups 89 and below will all get in. 90 and above will not get to ride. Someone earlier in this thread said they received a notification that they wouldn't be able to ride and they were group 91. It seems like Disney decided much earlier in the day that 89 would be their cut off. I wonder how they came to this conclusion so early in the day?
My guess is they have at least some idea what the maximum throughput is. Given downtime, certain BG are simply outside the realm of possibility.

All right y’all....

It’s because regular (non EMH) park closing is in 10 mins and earlier today their numbers/park time left suggested they’d only be able to get to wherever they cut off the number. Fortunately they are still calling BGs right up to closing again today, so it looks like you’ll ride. Good luck.

I was just surprised that at 1:18pm they were able to make that projection and the stars aligned for the ride to function well 7.5 straight hours

That was probably me....the CMs in the park also told my husband and daughter at 3ish that they would not be calling past 90- so it did seem to be predetermined. And as those last 2 hours struck, the last 20 numbers seemed strategically called (5 groups every half hour). It seemed like they paced it out those last couple of hours to evenly let in those last 20 groups. It worked because it didn't seem to break down the second half of the day. But it was murder as I watched their number get closer and closer.....and stop at 89.

In a strange turn of events that I do not have all the details on yet...they actually DID get in about 7:30. Husband has told me that he will call me with details when they are done and that it "Disney Magic."

Absolutely. The last 2 hours a group was called every 6 minutes almost on the dot. Where the few hours before it was closer to 7 groups an hour. Glad it worked for you guys and glad we just made the cut. I'm just intrigued by the unknown.

Also, just because they give a number early in the day, doesn't mean they have to stick to it. If the ride goes down in the mean time, more backup groups would be cut. Though I doubt if they send a notification to groups and the ride performs better than expected that they would call those groups.

So we have two people meeting us, they are passholders and Florida residents. They are two hours away.
Trying to figure out a plan. Any thoughts?

We are all going to be there, just wondering is there away to all ride together or does that just make my chances ho down

Sorry - I though you were asking for a work-around. I think @yulilin3 gave you the best plan. If all of you are linked and all of you are trying, I could increase your odds of getting one.

We will be there tomorrow. After experiencing the MK moshpit today I am NOT looking forward to it with the crowds, low BGs and poor ride performance 😡😭
Omg. Guys I’m really scared. We’re there Spring break, the week leading to Easter. DH may never let us go to Disney again if it is this awful. 😓

What I was trying to say😂 Is that they are still showing the called Bg’s on the app after 8pm.
Aren’t they usually —- out after official park closing?
I saw this last night as well. Probably just to let the people in those groups know they can still enter. Usually they're done calling groups well before park closing so it's not usually an issue.

The Chart on Post #2 has been updated.

- 81 Boarding Groups were called, 51 Regular and 30 Backup - for a 6.8 BG per hour average (long-term average is 9.3)
- As you can see via Thrill-Data tracking, there were a number of 1 to 1+ hour pauses during the day: https://www.thrill-data.com/waits/attraction/hollywood-studios/starwarsriseoftheresistance/
- Today was day 3 of "super-fast" filling of both Regular and Backup BGs - around 60-80 seconds depending on your clock.

The combination of relatively short park hours (12 total hours daily), 8am openings being more attractive/appealing for some, large holiday crowds (that will continue until?), continued education of the BG process among park goers, and likely lower supply of BGs to join seem to be creating the perfect storm for all BGs to fill at a much more rapid pace than past performance.

I know some don't want to remove people you are travelling with from your family and friends list, but if you really want to ride this I would suggest just doing it and adding them back after getting a boarding group. The couple of seconds it can take to select names instead of just tapping select all can be the difference in a bg that is called vs one that is not. In my three attempts I had BG45 (ride), BG93(no ride), and BG13(ride). BG45 was select all and deselect one missing person, BG93 was select 6 individual names from a list of about twenty friends and family, bg13 was select all (I removed everyone that was not trying to ride with us after we had bg93 the day before). Every second counts in this game.

So today they made it through 81 groups and announced pretty early in the day that there wouldn’t be more (of course there could have been less but they had made the call fairly early that 90+ wasn’t going to get called). But they gave them out. Do we know the highest backup given out? All in ~70 seconds. door they give out the “normal” number of BGs? Are people just more proficient?

Is Disney ok with this? Maybe they are. I keep wondering if they will increase park hours, but are they incentivized to do so? Other than grumblings from unhappy guests that didn’t score a BG, there’s an extreme high demand for their product. That’s a good thing for them right? Shorter operating hours means less cost to them and yet everyone is still in the park, buying food and merchandise and creating a buzz on social media. Not trying to break out my tin foil hat here, but what is the end game? I’m blabbering I know. I just can’t see how this pace can continue.

I couldn’t remove the other 11 from our list because they’re all on the trip with us. I went as fast as I could but I think that’s what did us in. Think good thoughts for us on Thursday!

Probably one or more of the travel group 11 don't already have (or much use) an MDE? You could set an MDE up for that person and use it just for BG bagging. Include only the BG folk and you'll be hitting "Select All" and moving on like greased lightning.

I just did this earlier today, in prep for our trip. My wife didn’t have a MDE account, so I set one up for her and only added the people from our group trying for RotR. We’ll still use mine for main group planning.

Thanks for that link. I was just wondering if its be possible to incorporate a downtime metric in the chart. It's pretty loaded as it is, but it'd kinda be nice to see overall reliability based on % up time.
