I was hoping some veterans could help me plan my strategy to maximize the use of gift cards and my disney visa, if possible. I have a nice rewards card available but I was also going to pick up the discounted disney GCs at target with my red card to pay for the rest of our room and to use for spending money and meals. we have a room only rezzie so i will pay the balance when i arrive. we are also APs with TIW, so i will have that discount too for meals. Is there a way to use my disney visa in combination to maximize my savings and get points? I figure I can link it to my room key, but if i pay the room balance before i leave (with the gcs), i don't think it's actually charged to my card, right?

If i can't use both, the GCs are a better deal at 5% savings than a 2% reward bonus. so i will try to prepay for as much as i can on gcs.

p.s. i originally posted this on the resort board, but this may be more appropriate.

I've been trying to figure this out as well. I read a few days ago, on another thread that you can get 10% off the GC at Target this month by stacking the redcard discount with the 5% off voucher that you get if you sign up for the pharmacy card and fill a prescription...I'm not totally sure if this is true or how it works but I wanted to share!

Yes, you can get 10% off with the prescription discount plus red card. Make sure and register at the pharmacy or I believe you can do it on-line. You'll get your pharmacy card in the mail. You usually get the 5% coupon when you fill 5 scrips but it looks like if you are new to the program, register this month and fill one scrip this month you'll get a coupon. They send it to you in the mail and you can use it for one day as many times as you want that day. There is a thread on the budget board that has more details and any issues that people have run into. I don't know if you have the debit or credit red card but I have the debit and have run into issues when I've had a large purchase. I have to call and get my 5% but it can take a little time so make sure you're not in a hurry :).

I don't know anything about the Disney CC, sorry, but you might try posting on the budget board. I love that board!! Always good info..:goodvibes

Good luck!

To have charging privileges on your KTTW card you'll need to have a cc on file, but you can pay off the balance using gcs. Just be sure you do it the day before you check out because otherwise the system will charge your cc sometime during the night before your check out day.

Also, each resort level has a maximum amount (values $500, mods $1,000, deluxes $1,500) that can be charged to your room account before it too is charged to your card. So if you are there for a long vacation or charge a lot to your room you will need to pay off the account part way through your trip.

I never want to take a chance on losing my GCs so I actually have them apply them to the room when we check in - so we run on a credit balance for a few days.

I'd wait till December hoping they repeat the Facebook coupon. 20% plus 2% in Disney rewards was a great deal. Two years in a row, hopefully a third.

I get them at 7% off plus 2% in Disney rewards by getting Walmart GC at Walmart and then getting Disney GC at SAMs. If they'd take visa, I wouldn't have to do the double purchase.

I'm in NJ so I can't do the target pharmacy deal.

Now if Disney would allow us to combine them into one...
