?? re: cash rooms through MS

I should know this but I don't. If I want to book a cash reservation (hopefully with member discount) at HHI and I don't own there, can I do it at 11 months or do the home/non-home resort booking rules apply to cash reservations? Also, do I pay in full at booking, pay a down payment or just guarantee with a credit card? What is the cancelation policy for cash rooms booked through MS?

about 10 days ago we booked cash reservation with member discount for BWV for jul 6; had to give credit card info but MS said card wouldn't be charged until check-in (or we could pay cash too). To cancel without being charged MS said " 6 days before checkin " so I asked if that would be on or before June 29 or June 30 ? First reply was June 30 but then she said let me check that and then told me June 29. So that would mean 6 days not including the actual check-in day and not including the day you are calling in to cancel.

This always makes me uneasy, being sure about what date a reservation needs to be cancelled without charge so I always want to be given a specific date.

Also, this was in the mix as well : we waitlisted for points reservation for jul 6 as well and were told if the waitlist came through it would automatically cancel the cash reservation. Well 3 days later the waitlist came through but I called just to double check that the cash reservation in fact cancelled and I was also given a cancellation number for the cash reservation ( now I can sleep easy )

Thanks. I guess I will call and book a room for cash for a week next spring. It sounds pretty easy.

Jean, I am glad you had a such a great trip that you are ready to head back to HHI again! I read your trip thread. Made me want to be there so bad.

I am also interested in learning the answers to the questions you asked. At what point can you make a cash ressie at a resort?

Wish the DIS server clocks would get fixed. The posts are out of order!
I called MS to book and found that the home resort rules don't apply for cash reservations (makes sense, since you are not using points). I want to book Memorial Day week again for next year, so I need to wait a few more days. Apparently the book-a-week from check IN date doesn't work for cash reservations (or else the CM at MS was messed up). The CM said the cash rooms don't book up very fast, so not to worry. I think I need to book a room in the lodge because DH can't do steps. Too bad because I sure did like the pool view room.
I absolutely loved HHI. Just a fabulous place and such a refreshing change from the frenzy of WDW, yet still that Disney touch. Would you believe that all 1150 or our 2008 points will be gone by then so I have to pay cash? That's what we get for sharing!

Those clocks are driving me nuts too! We just bought in at HHI but I spent all of our points on a precruise stay at VWL. I figured a cash ressie in March wouldn't be too tough for us next spring but we'll see. How far in advance can you make those reservations? We love it there too! That's why we own DVC and another TS there. It is our happy place!
