Re-allocate Points?

If DVC feels it necessary, they have the right to re-allocate points at any or all resorts. The total number of points used throughout the year at any resort can not change. If points increase one season or day of week, they must decrease another. This has happened at OKW one time. it was a fairly minor change. I believe there was also a re-allocation at BWV when they designated between standard and preffered views, unless that was included in the original charts.

Other than that there is some change from year to year depending on the dates of the major holidays, but that really isn't a re-allocation, just a date change.

I think that the term can also refer to a member's own points. When we did an add-on, we already had an upcoming ressie using current year points. The add-on included banked points. MS was able to re-allocate so that the ressie used the banked points and we were then able to free up the current use year points (which then could be banked to the next use year). I think we also have re-allocated when we have cancelled a ressie that uses banked points and then used the banked points for another already existing ressie that used current year points.
I am not good at explaining this (as you can tell) and maybe re-allocate is not the term used for what I am talking about, so maybe someone else could please chime in!

Thanks for the input! And yes I was referring to my own points! When can this be done? At 60 days or 61 days? Also, will this work for anyone? Thanks!

There really isn't a time limit to reallocate a reservation but it is up to the discresion of MS to allow you to do it. You can't reallocate to get around a home resort priority unless there is not a waitlist. For example, say you have BCV and OKW points. You make a BCV res at 11 months, you can't reallocate the reservation to use OKW points at 7 months if there is a waitlist. If there is not a waitlist, they will probably allow you to do it, it would be the same as canceling and rebooking the reservation.

I reallocated a reservation right after I bought because you can't used banked points until after closing. I made the reservation with current points and then reallocated after my closing to use the banked points.
