I was excited to learn that RCI (which I am a member) is now offering trading with Disney Vacation Club. I did not know where to post this, so I am starting here. From what I am reading DVC members don't seem to happy about this. Is it because it is hard to book stays? We would love to book with Disney through RCI and wonder how long we should think of booking out. 1 year, 2 years, etc.
Any help would be great.

Sorry if this is a bummer to all you owners but I would love to experience another aspect of Disney property stays. :)

Well, my question is from the other side of the coin! I want to trade OUT to the South golf coast area of Florida, and MS didn't give me a lot of hope.

The selection of resorts available via RCI is not that great. In fact there are less resorts and in not as many desirable locations.

It seems 1/3 to 1/2 of the Mexico/Caribbean resorts are AI. Those AI fees are a killer, and most of the time you can book it direct for cheaper.

As far as booking, I would try one year out.

I think the reason many members are unhappy is because they see II as a much better alternative with more resorts they are interested in and I would have to agree with them. RCI simply isn't as good of an exchange system if you're at the top. Add to that the concern that many have that RCI skims exchanges for rentals and you have issues.

I feel pretty lucky I guess, DW and I have no desire at this point to trade out to ANYWHERE! Our DVC just means to much to us. If there is a "trade" it would only be to go to the GCV or WDW over seas.

I used to "own" at RCI....emphasis on USED TO....The winners in this marriage are RCI owners not DVC owners. :confused3
