We have just returned from the Eastern Caribbean on the fantasy and had an amazing time. When it came to rating our servers we weren't really sure what to do as we had no real connection with our server but thought our assistant sever was amazing. We ended up giving the team an excellent rating mainly based on the assistant server but wondered if anyone else had had the same problem, thought that it may be better to rate them individually rather than a team - any thoughts?

I have long thought that the way they have you give feedback on your serving team needs much improvement. It is unfair to judge them as a team because they are individuals and there are times they are not working in sync. I don't like to lower the ratings if I have one of the team that is great because I know these ratings mean a lot to them. I also don't like that your opinion of the food counts against the serving team. We've had terrific servers and terrible food at times. The server does make recommendations and does try to accommodate me when I'm not enjoying a dish but I don't think they should be penalized because I am picky and "oven roasted chicken" shouldn't be "seared" (as one chef came out to explain how the chicken was cooked when my oven roasted chicken was bland and beige).

I've compromised and will rate based on the best member of my serving team and then make comments about any issues I had with other members of the team not pulling their weight or issues that were because of the kitchen.
