Rate Increase

Hi I am looking to buy into DVC but have a few questions:

1. I heard that rates are increasing sometime in March, and that the min. buy in will change from 150 points to 160. Does anyone know what the exact date of the increase will be, and how much the cost will go up per point?

2. Will that also be the date they take Saratoga off the market, making you buy in to AKL with the higher maintenance rate (if you want to buy directly from Disney)?


3. While we were at Disney last week the DVC people told us that if we bought while we were on vacation that they would give us a discount, or a one time gift of an extra years worth of points. At the time we weren't ready to purchase- while still on vacation. Has anyone tried to get Disney to extend this offer after they returned home from their vacation? Have they been willing?

I'm sure it's obvoius that I am trying to figure out how much of a hit we will take if we wait and buy in March instead of February. So, any advice is gladly welcome.

No one knows the exact date of any increase, but the current pricing for AKV has been hinted to end on March 1.

SSR points will continue to be sold, until the resort is fully "sold out"...it just depends upon how many points are left in inventory. They do not set a date to arbitrarily stop selling points at a particular resort.

As far as extending your discount or points offer, talk to your guide, it depends upon several factors.

The price increases from $101/point to $104/point on March 5, 2007.

The $8/point (or developer points option) expires on the same date. There is no word yet if another incentive will be offered.

Also, on March 5th, sales open to the general public. Someone would no longer have to be a current owner to purchase AKV.

Finally, also on March 5th, AKV points sold will be for the 2008 Use Year. Buyers will not get 2007 UY points. (IE, points sold will be for AKV phase II, not for AKV phase I)

Other Dates:

Feb 28th: "Founding Member" perk ends. (Although it's also been reported this will go until March 5th.)

May 16th, AKV owners can start booking vacations. They can only book vacations that begin Sep 1st or later, (No matter which resort they want to book. IE, they cannot use AKV points to book a vacation at BCV for example for August 2007, even though it would be within the 7 month window)

June 6th: DVC owners who do not own AKV points, can book AKV room using their other home resort points.

Sep 1st: AKV phase I opens.

Sep 1st: Dues on AKV points begin. (There are no dues on points prior to this date)

For new memberships, yes. I don't think they are charging existing members for add-ons.

HI! We just bought our DVC last Jan, and yes we paid for our closing cost.
