Random WDW Info - I Never Knew!

Here are mine...about Everest obviously.

1) Everest is the only rollercoaster in the world with a track that flips over.
2) Said trackswitches are each the length of a schoolbus
3) Everest is 199 feet tall because if it was 200 ft it would need a blinking light at the top.
4) The Yeti is Disney's largest animatronic and swings with the force of a 747 jet taking off.
5) Everest can run up to 5 trains at a time.
6) If something goes wrong with the ride, it shuts down automatically.

THE TRACK FLIPS OVER????? :scared1:

I don't recall that. Of course, it could be because DD and I blacked out from fear.

All fun information! I could've sworn when we researched WL it was not convenient for a family of 5, so we wrote it off... but maybe if we looked in to their villas...

Oil Rig? Wow... that is huge! Thanks for the fun facts!

AND I'm sure the Yeti will scare me to death... flipping track, what the???

I have had my share of Guinness at the Rose and Crown!

Wilderness Lodge is our favorite resort...we bought DVC VWL after staying at the lodge.

I like the cookie smell better than the cookies on Main ST

Great thread, keep it going!

THE TRACK FLIPS OVER????? :scared1:

The car isn't on the track when it flips. It flips during the Yeti scene (right before you go over the big drop).

Your not alone there!:thumbsup2 ;) I think a LOT of us are in that boat!

Yeah, and I've never even stayed at the BC. I just walk around it and get all Jed Clampet-ty feelin'!

While I obviously can't speak as to all of them, I can say that at least one of Mickey's friends does not wear a cup or pelvic protector.

...you see, my then 4 year old sister decided to punch Mickey square in the family jewels. My mom saw it happening live...through the viewfinder of her camera.

They/we were not ejected from the park...and we've got a great blackmail picture for her wedding someday :)

Obviously a picture that's worth a thousand groans!

When we did the IllumiNations cruise last summer, our skipper asked us if we knew why the Swan / Dolphin didn't blend in with the other water-themed hotels in the area. (That's always bugged me -- and it always seems to shatter the illusion when you're strolling the Board Walk and see those modern high rises over there!)

Nobody knew, so he explained.

He told us that the S / D were actually built first, and were originally supposed to go over on Hotel Blvd. But Eisner wanted to start developing the "Epcot Resort Area," and ordered them moved.

The result: one of the more glaring and disappointing lapses in Disney theming! :sad2:

I dunno - While I understand the theme is different, it is (in my mind) in keeping with actual "real life" boardwalks, like AC, OC and Wildwood, NJ. In fact, I was drawn to the Epcot area by the Beach Club theming but stayed for the Swan/Dolphin.

Thankfully we have both!

And one more: the Guerlain shop in France at Epcot is the only Guerlain shop in the US that carries the entire Guerlain line of cosmetics. Its makeup is high-end enough that outside of this flagship shop, only Saks Fifth Avenue and Nieman Marcus sell the makeup line in the US.

OT
FYI: Guerlain is sold at Bloomingdales also! If anyone is looking!

Interesting stuff! I read through all of them...whew! I beleive I have one to add that I did not see anywhere.

When we were dining at Sci-Fi we were looking to see where our licence plate was from. A CM came over and asked if we knew the significance of them. Of course we didn't! He said that the letters and numbers stand for the initials and birthdates of the people who came up with the idea and designed the restuarant. There are also a few to honor people who currently work there (he told us who exactly, but I can't remember). He said occasionally people will come in and ask to sit in a certain car because the initials belong to their family member.

Also, the guy who did the mosaic tile on the sign above the serving area tiled his initials in! CM said no one noticed it for years! Here is a picture...if you look closely below the "S" in "snack bar" you can see them - EME!

Jaye-I just went through all of those links for "Did you ever notice...?"
They are great.
I am amazed at the attention to detail that Disney has when designing these things! I love how they try to be true to history while mixing in Disney trivia and folklore.

I hadn't seen this bit yet...

I rode Dinosaur for the first time in October and notice the various pipes overhead in the vehicle loading area. They are various colors and they had words written on them. There were the chemical formulas for water, table salt, table sugar, and vinegar. There were the scientific names for onion, tomato, garlic, mustard, etc. The red pipe is ketchup, the yellow pipe is mustard, and the white pipe is mayonnaise. Then I remembered that the ride is sponsored by McDonalds. ;)

I'm not sure if this one has been mentioned yet but if you look at the Wilderness Lodge at night, from the lake, it looks like the face of a bear.

I agree that COP is a ride. But I have heard people who would claim it is a show and not a ride at all.

Yeah I refer to COP as a show because it is so calm that if I wanted to I could t take out a book and read it not that I would because I love Cop I am just saying in general

I justed finished reading all 49 pages. Took me 3 days while I was at work (a very busy hospital). Last night I was getting so aggrevated w/the patients coming in b/c I wanted to finish this last night. :headache: Oh well, at least I finally got through it.

Great posts. Too bad I'll never remember all of them. ;)

Done:cool1: :cool1: I made It,but i need more thanks to every one that discoverd the Info!!:goodvibes
