Random WDW Info - I Never Knew!

Slogans like:

Yes, I felt it too (picture of a firecracker)
I can bang that out in a second (picture of a typewriter)
You can write your number here (little line for number writing)
Sure you can have my number
We love you long time (Picture of a toilet)
I see London, I see France (binoculars)

Stuff like that. Not offensive, but 'on the edge' for Disney...

Thanks for your update....I was drawing a complete blank. :goodvibes

Any Brits think thats Gary Neville?

Did you know...that in Liberty Square the houses next to Liberty Tree Tavern are themed to that time period (obviously). But the interesting thing is how you can tell the "poor" houses from the "wealthy" houses. The poor houses shutters are crooked and hanging because they had to use leather straps for hinges (something about metal being used for guns, etc during the war...i can't remember the whole story, sorry) and the wealthy houses shutters are straight because they were not made to give up their metal hinges. Also, you can tell who is at war and who isn't based on whether or not a gun is present in the window...take a look and you will see several shotguns above doorways, windows, etc!

Did you know....that when you are exiting the Haunted Mansion on the people mover, feel the bricks on the wall as you exit ( right hand side)...they are SQUISHY!! Disney is always focused on safety and they didn't want someone to go flying off the people mover and hit the wall of brick!! How cool is that??

Did you know...that the entrance to MK is set up like a movie? You see the previews as you enter under the train (notice all of the posters of attractions on the wall), as soon as you exit on either side...guess what? Popcorn machines!! Just like the movies! Then you will notice all of the "credits" in the windows above the buildings on Main St.....giving credit to those who helped create the "movie". FYI....Walt's Credit is on the very last building on the right hand side as you are walking towards the castle (can't think of what building it is...I think the ice cream parlor). His name rests there so he can look out onto what he created but never got to experience:sad1:

Did you know...that Spaceship Earth consists of 2 spheres? The inner sphere is the "membrane" and the outer sphere is made up of 11,324 triangular panels made of aluminum alloy!

Did you know...at the center of Millenium Plaza in EPCOT is the fountain. At the dedication ceremony 23 representatives from 23 different countries brought water from 23 different rivers and lakes around the world to make it a gathering point for people all over the world!

Did you know that I love Disney?!?! :woohoo: Keep all the fun facts coming!!

I keep thinking of more things....

Did you know that Disney sorts all of the trash BY HAND!! EVERYDAY!! So if you ever think you might have tossed something while you were in the park.....chances are they have it waiting for you!!

Thats pretty cool and gross at the same time! Ive heard from cast members that there is a store located in the tunnels where CM's can buy stuff either left on rides or found in the trash? Anyone confirm this ?

Lost & Found items are kept a certain length of time. If they pass the claim period they are then sold at one of the large merchandise clearance sales they have for CMs. These sales are done a couple of times a year and are located in a large tent set up in a backstage parking lot (the merchandise) and the lost & found items are sold nearby in a trailer.

When I worked there I never heard of the trash being sorted by hand either. I cannot imagine that it would be a very cost effective process at all and think this may be urban legend.

X_X is it sad that I read 38 pages, and erad lot of Bell/Bill debates, and didn't even know someone flew as Tinkerbell? Information, please.

For the Keys to the Kingdom tour, they actually show you where they sort the trash by hand (Yellow area if I remember correctly.), and believe me, it's no urban legend. I don't envy those who get that job. :scared:

i want that job, where else in the world do you get to throw a women out of a tall building and get away with it, and to top it all you get to do it night after night after night

NOW THATS WHAT I CALL A YEAR OF A MILLION DREAMS

Wow, that's an unbelievably rude and misogynistic thing to say.

:lmao: :happytv: :rotfl2:

I have just read all 39 pages in one session. My bottom has now gone numb. :rotfl:

Great info everybody. Keep them coming.

Off now for a walk around my office.

Another one that most people know about is when they shoot off the extra fireworks around 10:30 pm. It's a loud boom, and I have heard it before. But I had never seen it until last week. We were still eating at Bistro de Paris at 10:30 pm. We looked at the window and saw what looked like a huge fireball/bomb going off. I thought maybe this wasn't in the park, but I guess it is.

It is not actually extra fireworks. This is something done after IllumiNations. They have to burn off any excess combustable fuel (saftey reasons I guess) I haven't seen it in person, but I saw a video of it, and it is a pretty impressive sight. (and LOUD!)

When Epcot was conceived, the Disney Co. asked the real corresponding countries to help. Morocco is the only country that still takes care of the Epcot "County". When work needs to be done, the King & Queen send workers.

Also, if you look closely - a lot of the tile work in Morocco has been chipped. That is because their culture believe that the only one to create perfection is God. Therefore, the tile is placed perfectly by the Moroccan workers, then chipped it so we would know the tile was laid by men.
