Great minds think alike. I'm not so sure this is just about a nice dress, ifyouknowwhatImean... There's really only so much you can say and defend about a dress. If we were talking about any other celebrity's blue dress, this would probably be a 1-2 page discussion.
I'm so confused. I'm not sure how a thread discussing the Inaugural Day fashions has devolved into Melania Trump's nude photos.
Regardless, this really did start out as a discussion about the women's fashions during the various Inaugural Day ceremonies. We discussed what they all were wearing - Hillary Clinton, Michelle Obama, Karen Pence, Ivanka Trump... it just seems that the blue Ralph Lauren suit caused more discussion.
It's okay to not like the outfit. But, whatever your opinion, it was a "standout" dress. It caused a "fashion moment" - like J. Lo's green dress, like Gwyneth Paltrow's pink ball gown she wore to the Oscars, like Michelle Obama's rose gold chain mail dress she wore to her final State Dinner, like Kate Middleton's wedding dress, like that form-fitting black dress the newly divorced Princess Diana wore...
I don't think any political statement was made until some took offense that she was being compared to Jackie Kennedy - and the comparisons are not just being made in this particular thread, by the way. The Ralph Lauren dress being compared to Jackie Kennedy was all over the place - on the news shows, the entertainment shows, the internet, etc.
I don't know what kind of person Melania is or even used to be, because I don't know her.
But I can discuss what she was wearing w/o bringing her personality, activities, and politics into the discussion.
What I also find a bit ironic is how one of the beliefs of the current feminist movement is that women should be allowed to wear (or not wear) whatever they want without judgment. Recently, there was a thread here regarding Miley Ray Cyrus & her conduct, & the words "slut shaming" were thrown around.
I could not miss all of the over reaching explanations of "style" comparisons if I tried. I did not miss them I just think people are absolutely wrong in thinking the two women have any similar style. I did not call anyone stupid. I referenced an article that said many people are using the Katie Holmes photo and waxing ecstatic over Mrs. trump wearing the same color as if that is Jackie Kennedy. The comparisons have been so out there and strange that I thought it might help explain them.
I don't think anyone here needs that explained, though, because I don't think anyone here compared Mrs. Trump to Katie Holmes.
