Rainforest Cafe

My advice is make a reservation, then when you get there sign up for the discount card (Safari Card). You definitely get the discount that first visit, but I am not sure if you can get the priority seating with your card the day you sign up. We love RFC, its sort of a Disney tradition. It is expensive, but the good news is that their portions are huge. My husband and I share the China Island Chicken salad and are full every time. Its a fun place to go, we have always enjoyed the one in Disneyland and the ones in WDW.

I love having that Safari Club card, that way we don't have to make reservations but still get seated pretty quickly. The Safari card only gets you the perks if you have six people or less by the way. And its good at all Landry's locations (Landry's, Salt Grass and probably some others).

My friend and I went and both agreed we'd never go back, so my minority opinion kinda surprises me. The atmosphere was nice, and portions were good and it was pretty well priced, (for Disney) but we had horrible service there. It took a long time for us to get called and when we did, we stood by the entrance for another five minutes before they even found a table for us. We had to wait forever to get menus, forever to have a waiter take our order and only when we asked about it did our drinks arrive, same with the food. I have to say the only thing I liked about my food were the mashed potatoes, while my friend hated his entire meal.. Same waiting game for the check as well... I don't think I'll be going through it again...

In Oct we had a similar experience with the service. We actually got our table quick, but that's where the good service ended. Our server waited on tables that were seated several minutes AFTER us first. We sat there forever waiting for the menus. Then we sat forever to just have our order taken. The rest of the meal was like this. She would be falling all over herself to help those other tables, but we'd practically have to get up to get her attention for something. Then she overcharged us a few extra sodas that we never ordered at the end (Dh always checks the bills!). She never said she was sorry even, and got kind of an attitude about having to fix it! :confused3 Needless to say she didn't even get a tip.

The food was okay, my Mom wasn't too happy with her burger, the bun was hard. I was disappointed where they sat us. It was my Mom's first time ever going and they sat us on the first floor not near ANYTHING. So she really never got to see what the neat atmosphere was all about. She did like the light up glasses though. :)

We've gone over the years and that was really the FIRST bad experience, so I'm willing to try again. But if that happens again, we may have to consider trying something else for our DTD meal!

We just went to the DTD Rainforest Cafe last week. I have been to the Rainforest Cafe in Denver, Colorado before and really enjoyed it.

Every day we would pass the entrance to the Rainforest Cafe on our way to and from the park- we were staying at the DLH. DD would beg to go on that ride. She is 3, so I guess it looked more like a ride than a restaurant to her. Anyway, we finally stopped and ate dinner there Tuesday of last week. Not the best idea for us. We had an adequate meal and were seated quickly. However, the atmosphere was a little overwhelming for my young kids- DD is 3and DS is 1.5. The loved the animals and the aquarium at the entrance, but they were not thrilled with the thunderstorms. They didn't cry or freak out, but they didn't enjoy it and didn't eat much at all.

We've never eaten there, largely because our Disney buddies flat out refuse to ever eat there again. They said it was AWFUL. Of course, they like the Aladdin show, so I'm not sure how good their judgement is. :rotfl:

We may try the one in San Francisco some time.

We love Rainforest Cafe! I joined their Safari Club a few years ago (at the one in Vegas where they put REAL sparklers on their volcano cakes!). The benefits are decent - priority seating, 10% discount etc... The one at Downtown Disney is nice and we always go when we're there - we'll be there, in fact, in less than 2 weeks when we go down for spring break! My kids are 7 and 8 and love the atmosphere. The food portions are rather large and the cocktails, excellent. ;)

It's not AWFUL, it's a bit overpriced but it's not that bad.

and what's wrong with the Aladdin show? :confused3

So how much is it to join the Club? Is it worth it if you are only going once a year?

We really enjoy the RFC. This is what we did, made ressies and got our table. Told the waiter we wanted the card (we already knew about it) got the free appetizer (blue crab cheese dip with tortilla chips mmmmmmmmmmm) got our food and ate. A few weeks later we got a certificate for $10 off, so our next trip we had the free appetizer, the $10 off and we also had a gift card from friends, that meal was free. :) The club was a$10 when we joined in July.

It's an hour of my life that I will never, ever get back. Worse, it was my idea and my husband will never ever let me forget about the hour of his life that he will never get back.:headache: Not one of my better ideas and anytime I suggest something he thinks sounds lame now I get, "Remember Aladdin's Musical Craptacular?" And I cannot argue with that.

We have the card, we got the priority seating and the discount off our meal the night we signed up for it. I think its a lot of fun. DD likes it, she's just not a huge fan of the gorillas, so we had to ask for a place away from it and of course they sat us in plain sight of it. That kind of annoyed me, but she still had a good time. Their food is a bit expensive, but you are paying for the atmosphere. I always get the rumble in the jungle turkey wrap, it is soooooo good!

We were there the same day! Did you hear my kids freaking out?? DH had to inhale his food, take the kids downstairs and outside of the scary jungle while I packed up the food and paid the bill. DH and I thought the kids would enjoy it but we were wrong. It also didn't help that my DD didn't like the waiter. She cried when he looked at her. You would think he would leave her alone but he kept "trying" and made it even worse:rolleyes:

We've been there before (prekids) and think it's great! We also had made reservations/priority seating which I HIGHLY recommend. We were seated immediately but other people were waiting over 20mins for a table.

So you get a $10 off coupon in the mail when you join the club. Is there an expiration date on the coupon? J/C because it might be another whole year before we get back down there. :guilty:

We were there in October and quite frankly we had to send several featured meals back. It honestly wasn't very good. I love the atmosphere so we'll go back for appetizers and drinks but that's probably it.

We LOVE the Aladdin show! See it every time we go.......

Yes, there is an expiration date on the certificate. We used ours before that date but they may accept it after, ask your server. We have AP's so we are frequent visitors.

And we love the Aladdin show too. :) Both of them actually, they are both fun.

Yes, there is an expiration date. I joined no earlier than the summer or early fall, and my coupon expired at the end of December. I forgot about it and never got to use it. :sad1:

10% off or a free appetizer. They let you chose from 2 free ones or you can get the sampler one for $10.00 off. We always get the Blue Crab dip, it's so good and just the right amount for 2, the kids don't eat it and if we were to get the Mozzarella sticks then they won't eat their meals. So Micah and I get the crab dip and share Maya's combo. He eats the coconut shrimp, I eat the chicken and we share the ribs. LOL We have a system. LOL We do vary that sometimes but that's our basic meal.
