Has anyone ever eaten at the rainforest cafe? I was wondering the difference between the Downtown Disney location and the Animal Kingdom location. I have heard amazing things about this place an dvalue any of your opinions. Also, do thay take advanced reservations? Thanks so much :cool1:

My family really enjoyed the one at AK,, The salads we ordered were HUGE and the kids meals were great! Very entertaining.... I'd recommend it.

Our family enjoys the RFC. We joined to kids up to the Safari Club, which is cheap, and gives discounts that more than make up for the cost. You also get priority seating. And the card provides discounts at all of the restaurants owned by Landry's.

You can make priority seating thru Disney for the Animal Kingdom Rainforest. I think the downtown disney does make them also. Both are excellent and lots of fun. Enjoy, Cindy

We made ADRs at the AK RFC for breakfast. We had never been to one and we had a spectacular time. Our server was outstanding, the food was excellent, and the portions were big. We really enjoyed the decor and plan to make it a must-do on all future vacations. :thumbsup2

We enjoyed Rainforest Cafe last time we were there (6 yr ago) and the food was really good. Now though after eating at another one in Tennesee, I'm wondering if I was just starving to death and anything at that point would have tasted good. We had a big group and didn't have reservations (not sure if they do them). We didn't get our food until about 11pm. But I really loved the atmosphere and I do remember liking the food.

We like it because they have an extensive menu and our kids have different and picky tastes. We have tried pizza, ribs, hamburgers, salads and all have been terrific. We went for Christmas eve in 2004 and then the DD RFC took reservations up to a year in advance. I don't know if that is still the policy.

If you go, you simply must try the volcano! It is huge and awesome and the way it is brought is exciting (especially for the kids). We (5 of us) couldn't even finish it!

We ate lunch at the AK Rainforest Cafe on our last trip and loved it. The theming of Rainforest Cafe is so consistent w/ the AK theming-lunch was just part of the AK experience. We had been at AK that morning since opening and we were all tired when we were seated for lunch. The atmosphere of Rainforest was relaxing and the food was very good. We were ready to hit the park again after lunch.

We love the RFC and eat there at least once each trip! We ended up eating there 2x in 10/05! If you go, you can NOT beat having the Safari Club card, it's WELL worth it!! :thumbsup2

I've eaten at 4 different RFC's and they have all been great! (including the 2 at WDW) I'd go for the AK one just because it ties in with the park theme so well... but both are good.

My personal favorite - Buffalo Chicken Salad. YUMMMMMMYYY (And trust me, I'm NOT a salad person!)

I try to avoid being seated in the elephant area - they just seem louder to me than any of the other animals. (or maybe the trumpeting elephant sound is just more annoying? :confused3 )

I have eaten twice at the Rainforest Cafe. My family ate there the first time to enjoy the ambiance. We went back the second time because we could not believe it could reallt be that bad.

We were wrong. Incredibly slow service, cold food, meat filled with gristle (sp?). It was truly unbelievable!

At least it was overpriced. :confused3

Additionally, the carnival-like figures were to animatronics like Yugo is to Mercedes.

Good luck if you go.

We've been to the one in DTD and thought it was just okay. The service was slow - but it was packed, so I didn't get too upset. The food was hit and miss. The Chimichacha's are really good, but the pizza is horrible - tastes like frozen box pizza. The atmosphere is like the Amazon on methamphetamines. Not a relaxing dining experience, to say the least.

We've been to the DTD, AK, and Minneapolis RCs and it's the same at each...... the atmosphere is fun, some dishes are fine, some aren't so good, the portions are large, and it's expensive. They seem to have service setup in what is probably *supposed* to be efficient, but isn't.... It always seems that one person takes your order and another picks it up and brings it to you. Separate jobs may have sounded like a good idea, but the person bringing you food isn't you waiter and doesn't seem to care if it gets to you quickly - and BOY does it cause delays if there's a problem.

True story. I ordered a pasta alfredo without the chicken. When it was brought, my dish had chicken on it. I very politely said that I had ordered it without chicken. (Bear in mind that I tend to be overly forgiving of mistakes like this and don't start out anywhere near upset.....) The food-delivery guy actually sat there and explained to me how it was MY fault for ordering pasta without chicken instead of wording it in the way their cooking staff was used to hearing it!!!!! Seriously. I wasn't sure whether to call a manager or just laugh out loud. :) By the time they fixed the problem and brought me my dinner, it had been so long that everyone at my table had finished their entire meal......

If you're flexible and go in without high expectations, it's an experience the kids will probably enjoy. Listen to the recommendations on what to eat and go in expecting for the meal to take a while. And, especially if you think you might ever go to another RFC, join their club - it does pay for itself quickly. (And they will charge you less for the yummy fru-fru drinks if you ask not to get the souvenir glass if you don't mind not having that.)

We've been to both locations and neither are on the top of our "must go" lists. Food is okay, nothing to write home about. The kids like the animatronic animals and the rain around the bar is a nice touch. If you've got a really long wait, skip it. I don't think either place takes reservations (at least they didn't when we went). Last two times have been with FL friends who are in the Safari Club so we didn't have to wait but about 5 minutes. Jumped in front of a ton of people.

Portions are generally HUGE. If you order a pasta dish it will be enough to feed at least 2 people. Kids meals were large too.

We love rainforest cafe. Have only been to the one in AK but I plan on going to the DTD one this time for a change. I always eatthe "Chicken fried Chicken"
It's great. We are on a budget and only eat at counter service places but this is the one exception we make. :thumbsup2

If you have never been to a RFC, then by all means try it....HOWEVER, the food is so-so ( not great/but not too bad) & I think a tad expensive for quality of food ( My Opinion Anyways )
I suggest going, asking if you could look around, have an appetizer at the bar and then try another place for you entree'.
It is NOT on the Dining Plan.
The atmosphere is really Cool!! My Kids Love It !!
But, we have a RFC about 10 miles from our house in Michigan so going to the one at WDW is not a priority.
If you've never seen one, then you have got to check it out !!
