I just looked at accuweather for ideas on what it will be like on our upcoming trip in march. RAIN EVERYDAY!! :( How can this be? I thought march was one of the lowest rain seasons. .. I know it can change day to day. but i am freaking out and getting really dissapointed.

Can you give me some tips to enjoy the parks in the rain? Do they still do the fireworks..fantasmic?

praying for good weather.

Since Orlando has tropical weather I would assume when ever I go there that there may be rain at any time of the day, no matter what season I go.

Of course, since WDW covers such a large area, it can rain everyday and you could never see the rain. I can remember sitting at the pool at POR and watching a thunderstorm while I was swimming. It's so unpredictable.

so if you go to the parks prepared for rain, you'll have an easier time if it does rain. we always wear shoes that dry quickly. no sneakers for us since wet sneakers can ruin an afternoon and the next day. We always carry ponchos too. That way when it starts raining and everyone ducks for cover...we can get to the next attraction.

Buy ponchos and enjoy the parks. I actually don't mind when it rains as it thins the herds (except for the May monsoon we experienced in 2008 where it rained so hard day after day that you couldn't even see).

We like the Disney ponchos because they are pretty thick but you can get really cheap ones at home to take with you and just toss them when you are done.

We also wear ball caps to keep the rain off of our faces.

Just be prepared and it will be fine...If you have a stoller invest in a stroller cover I think I paid $8 for my generic one before I got my Maclarean. On days that it looked like rain I put it on and stored stuff underneath the basket and it stayed dry always did this before we went on a ride. PONCHOS invest a few more $$ in a qualty one to keep you dry or just use the ones WDW sells these are really sturdy. Bring some type of water proof/plastic bags to put them in when not in use if it stops raining. Wear flips flops or some type of shoe that can get wet. Also, if you have the room in your bag put a light jacket and/or small hand towel to help dry off and keep you a little warm some of the restaurants and rides can be a little chilly if your wet.

Like you said, this forecast has been going back and forth daily between no rain and rain. Most of the days, they're only forecasting less than a tenth of an inch of rain. On the plus side, it might make crowds a little better.

2 things:

1. You might want to wait until it is a little closer: Accuweather predicted rain every day of our trip 14 days out, but only 1 day by the day before. then it did rain twice during my trip. Our first day while we were at Crystal Palace but it had stopped when we came out, and then again at night when we were eating at Epcot - and it was a deluge! We had to cancel our KP adventure, but benefitted from a good night's rest.

2. The pp were spot on when they suggested you see the silver lining to those rain clouds. They really can empty a park. Our first night, the park was moderately crowded before supper, but after it rained during supper, the park was quiet! We walked on to Aladdin's, PoTC, and BTMRR and had only a short wait for JC!

We carried our ponchos in our dorky fanny packs - they fit beautifully so we were always ready.

In Florida rain can only be a couple of minutes or maybe a half hour. I go to DollarTree and buy a bunch of ponchos, 2 for $1. At that price I consider them disposable. Disney ponchos, while very nice, are $7 each and you will never fold them back up as small as when you bought them.

Rain will only ruin your trip if you let it.

You are worrying over something you have absolutly no control over.

Chances it will rain for the whole day....slim
Chances it will rain for part of the day or chances for showers daily....very likely

Florida is a tropical environment and usually it rains daily during the spring/summer months

Seriously?!?!

It's only February 22 by my calendar. The weathermen couldn't even get the forecast correct for the upcoming 24hours as of yesterday morning!

It WAAAAAAY to early to be even slightly concerened about what they are predicting for a week+ from today!

That said, one should always be prepared to encounter a little rain at WDW.

At this point, use the forcast as a very general guide for how to pack. Often rain is shortlived at WDW - esp this time of year. Often enough, we've entered an attraction/restaurant before it rained and when we leave - it's already ended.

IF scattered showers are forcast - and you do see rain - unless you are really pressed to get someplace right then - oftenthe best thing is to simply wait under cover for about five minutes. Often by the time the masses have their ponchos on - the rain ends.

Other times, the weather is going to be cool - so a light jacket can serve double duty durig cool evenings/mornings. Sometimes too, a small amount of rain actually feels refreshing! I've never quite understood the fear some folks have when it comes to rain/water.

Almost certainly between the above- you will not need ponchos for every day of your trip.

ONe thing that can bite is very wet jeans, wet socks, and wet sneakers Also...well....lots of folks swear by a product called 'body glide' if chafing is at all an issue for you. If rain IS going to be a significant facotr - and even if it isn't - there's good reason to consider water friendly footwear. Crocs are one fairly comfortable option. I can't wear them all day, but they beat cheap flip flops. (Which caneb slippery when wet) Water friendly shoes are also great for water rides. Another type of water friednly shoe is something liek Teva sandals or HIGH quality flip flops. All of the above can be a bit tricky to fin dhtis time of year.

You CAN buy Crocs at WDW, and there is (or was) a Crocs store in MCO. You can also find them at the Orlando outlet malls usually.

Last, if it is wet- and you have 'stuff' - ziploc bags can be VERY handy. I always pack my toiletries in large ziploc bags, incase they leak in transit. OFten I just reuse these. The extra large 2.5gallon ones are great. For kids, you can also pack 'outfits' in ziploc bags to expedite dressing each morning. (shirt, shorts, socks, underwear).

We were there that same week in May. It was AWFUL! I had a poncho and still was SOAKED EVERY DAY!

BUT we still did what we wanted (as long as the ride wasn't outside). I wouldn't worry about it. Most of the time, it is just a quick shower. Even if it rains all day every day, you will still have a great time. Rain clears out the parks so when the sun does come out, you can hop on rides.

Rain forecasts around these parts are almost entirely useless beyond 3 days out.

Remember: Just because rain is in the forecast, it doesn't mean it will rain all day, every day. I lived in Florida for almost a year, and was surprised at how brief most of the showers were. Many last about 15-20 minutes, then blow over very quickly.

I've been to WDW several times during hurricane season ( October), and many days it didn't rain at all. Just brief showers, and very rarely, steady rain all day.

The one time we were at MK and it rained was AWESOME. We walked onto every single ride (even Dumbo - NO ONE IN LINE!). We bought the $7 Mickey ponchos and just went for it. In the afternoon, it cleared up and was beautiful but we had already ridden everything multiple times so we just let our son play at Pooh's Thotful Spot and hung out in the sun while everyone else waited in line :)

We'll be in Orlando March 4-8, and ever since Accuweather started forecasting those days, I've been updating my boyfriend: "Our first day is going to be 83 degrees and sunny!" "Oh, now it's only going to be in the sixties for the first three days." "Now it's definitely going to be in the mid-seventies until Monday, and it'll rain on Saturday."

You just can't take it seriously so far out; the forecast one day seems to bear no relation to the forecast 24 hours later. But I admit, I was a little freaked out, too, when I checked this morning and it just said "Rain" for every. single. day. But I consoled myself with what everyone's saying above: even if it DOES just pour rain the whole time, at least we'll have the parks to ourselves, right? :cool2:

My DH and I were there during a hurricane in September. Rain was forecasted for all three days we were there. We only experienced a few hours of rain one night. It was cloudy every morning, then cleared up by noon when the sun shone.

I took DS 4 last month. We had one and half days of rain and it was also pretty cold several days. We only had 2 really nice sunny days, but it was still a great vacation! The day it rained, we just laughed and donned ponchos and were able to see quite a bit with few lines. Most attractions are inside at HS and EPCOT, but really there are many indoor activities at all the parks if you are will to walk from one to another in the rain. On our day at the MK there was supposed to be horrible rain and thunderstorms late in the afternoon. We arrived at RD and rode every ride DS wanted with no lines all day long! We then departed around 4:30 PM as the impending storm began. Of course, we had to run in the rain to get to the POP food court later that night!

I noticed that the weather forecast for Orlando is also constantly changing, so take it with a grain of salt right now. I know it's disappointing to not have the best weather on a vacation you took a lot of time and money to plan, but you are at Disney World and will have a fun vacation no matter the weather if you decide to.

I would not stress about the weather, just because that is something none of us have control over. Instead, just go with the flow..It does stink when it rains, but at least you will be at WDW!!!:goodvibes Many attractions are still opened, especially the ones inside.

Other than May 2009, when there were non stop torrential downpours, and we were miserable :headache:..all of the other rain events during our many trips, we just muddled through and took it as it was. I am sure you will still have a great time, even if it does rain.

We will be there the same time as you! I have noticed the rain rain rain at Accuweather but I, like the others said, am planning to be prepared and just trying to not let it worry me. Of course that's easier said than done.

I hope we both have fun regardless of the weather! :thumbsup2

Seriously, don't worry. You will still have a magical time!! :wizard: You will almost be there, lucky you!! Just bring/buy ponchos if necessary. As long as you don't have torrential downpours, the rain is very manageable. We all would love for sunshine, but as we all know, that does not always happen.

One thing I could say is that when we went on our last trip this past August, I actually was happy when it rained a bit. It was sooooo stinking hot and humid, that the rain was a relief. I didn't even put my poncho on, because it was so hot!!! But, it was mostly quick downpours, then it would stop. So, the rain did not interfere in our trip at all.

Don't worrk about the weather!!! What will be will be. We were in WDW for Hurricane Faye and we still had a great time. We put on our ponchos and went to the parks. One of our best memories is one night @ MK in the rain , we had umbrellas and ponchos, we walked on everything. It was great!!! Why worry about something you can't control. Have a good attitude and you will have a great time. Even if it does rain it rarely rains all day. Have agreat trip.:cool1:
