Rain, Surprise Birthdays, Rain, First Visits -(Ginny is deceased-Prayers for her.)

Well, I don't think we will be going to Disney! A bit too much for us right now. The room price is awesome, $300 for 3 nights at a value resort! However, the park tickets are $550.00 for 4 day park hopper for 2 people!!! This isn't even including the cost of getting there or paying for food! Guess I still have to wait till 2011! LOL! Oh well. I'm not looking into NYC! At least it's cheaper to get there for us since we are close! I did look on mousesavers for discounted Disney broadway shows. However, the discount they are running now ends in early Sept. and we would be going the weekend of Oct 17th. Maybe they will offer it again. Has anyone ever used priceline.com for hotels? They have this program where you "name your price" My friend uses it all the time & gets great hotels for great prices! We might just do that for a hotel in NYC since they are so expensive just for one night!

I have had friends use Priceline. I'm chicken. I did use it once and put in for a 5star on the strip in Vegas. Well the only 2 5 stars are Bellagio or Venetian. So it worked well. But they say you have to be very specific.

I know that is what we say about Disney. The hotel prices aren't bad it's all the other stuff.

Disney is a very very expensive vacation...that is why we normally go every 5 yrs or so... the only reason I am getting a trip in 2010 is because the rain and crowds were so bad...and I really think Danny enjoyed Ashton there as much as I did...you can cut cost if you do not get the hoppers and JetBlue has good prices for air, if they are scheduled to fly at the time you want to go???

NYC can be very expensive also; Gwendolyn went Feb before last they stayed really close to the M&M store ??? a Best Western I believe...

sorry too afraid to try price line but I have heard good things...

If I had a baby as sweet as Ashton I would go anytime he said the word Disney or Mickey. :rotfl2:

I'm evidently not a true Disney fanatic tho. Love it but there are so many other places that need checked out too.

So, I have some dates to give to Danny for next years vacays--just don't know when I want to mention it...I can't actually book until October so I guess I will probably change my mind anyway:lmao:

Ft. Walton Beach vacay--June 5 - 12, 2010 (our annv is the 6th)
[ Ginny, if you want to join us we will probably be staying at the Seacrest in Ft. Walton]

I have two weeks in mind for WDW --well actually three:confused3still...

Sept 25 - Oct 2 if they have "free dining"
Nov 5 - 12 do you think Christmas will be up yet!!! or we could do the week after this it should be up by than according to the very merry christmas dates for this year:rolleyes1
Dec 3 - 10 I know it will be decorated by this time--just seems like a life time away

I believe the three weeks I'm looking at should have good weather and low crowds???:confused3
and than I may just have to talk him into the spring-- I wonder what the last week of April is like:rolleyes1
he said he has to spend a week at the beach BEFORE I can go back to Disney

But with a beach trip and later a WDW trip it should not seem so bad and we get two in a year...nice what no car note can do!!!!as long as nothing major comes up--fingers crossed...:upsidedow

I know I am way over thinking this--I just wish I was with Lisa:rotfl:

Ft Walton beach sounds great. Don says (whatever he knows and whoever died and made him king) only one vacation next year and I'm doing a cruise by golly. Since I have enough points for the free one we would just need airfare to Fl or wherever we went. I would love to take him to Alaska in the summer as a surprise. He really wants to go.

If Christmas stuff is up 11/3 that is the one I would do. Since 12/3 is so right after Thanksgiving I bet it is a busy time. Besides the weather if pretty stable in November.

I would think the last week in April would be good. Most spring breaks are
2nd and 3rd weeks in March. Before the rains hit too.

I think you have a plan and a good one. Keep up the wishful thinking that is what keeps us sane.

I wish we were with Lisa too.

Connie, we went the week after Thanksgiving in 2006 and the crowds were low. I expected them to be higher than they were, but there were barely any waits for the rides. 20 minutes was a long wait!

But, I'm with Ginny, if Christmas is up the first or second week of November, that's when I'd go! :thumbsup2

I can't wait to do Alaska; but, I want to do Yellowstone and HI first...so I think HI will be our 2011 trip (25th anniversary), 2012 yellowstone and maybe AK 2013 or wait and do that or our 30th annv...one big one a year and I figure Gwendolyn should be wanting me to plan a wedding when she graduates in Dec 2010 might have to push each of the trips back by a year--nay nay...

I love having life all planned...don't have anything else to do between play times:laughing:

yeah, I think if I can't talk him into the last week of April (Dayne's spring break--and the crowds levels predict low)--I want to go back yesterday so waiting an entire year plus some..uugghh!!!
I think I'm going to push for the second/third week of Nov.

BUT, if they offer free dining in Sep I REALLY think that is what will be the winner...free food can't beat that...

we'll see I was sitting with a calendar today when Ashton was having quiet time and Chloe was napping...waiting for Gwendolyn to bring me some chicken she purchased for me four hours ago and left at my mom's so I can cook dinner--starting to think a box of chicken is what they are going to get...

I personally would go with the first week of December. I've been then and it's awesome. But if the Christmas is up, the second week of November is good too (the closer you get the Thanksgiving the more crowded it will get). Free Dining in September/October is always a plus, but if I had my choice, I'd choose Christmas over Free Dining (plus, they may add free dining in Nov/Dec they just did for this year).

As far as the beach, I so wish we could meet you there, but right now that's the week I'm planning for Disney (Christian's birthday is June 9th). I'm not looking forward to June much, but the group I'm supposed to be meeting (there are 8 of us that were in a birth group before our kids were born and we've never all met-a few have met here and there, but we haven't all met each other) to celebrate the kids' 5th birthdays. I want to go June 8-15 (Christian's bday and a Star Wars Weekend) but I have to wait and see what the others say. We have to plan around Will's baseball too.

But we can go to Fort Walton whenever we want. Matt and I both grew up there. His brother, sister, mom, aunts, cousins, and grandmother all still live there. My grandparents (mom's side-the ones that I just booked a room for last night) and various extended family also still live there. So we have a place to stay. My mom is actually bummed we didn't get there this summer, so she'd go in a heartbeat if I asked. We may have to look into it depending on Disney and Baseball. ;)

if they have free dining in Sept then i would check that out unless you can get a good rate in Nov or Dec on hotel rooms and other stuff. Just wait and do some number crunching and see which time you can save a couple bucks. golly i sound like my mom. :lmao:

I wanted you to see this picture of Disney College graduation. My cousins granddaughter is the right end. I just though it was cool.

That's a cool picture, Ginny! I love Minnie in her pink robe and hat! Mickey looks pretty darn, cute, too.

What's the scoop on Disney College?

Is Disney College for Travel Agents? That is sooo cool!

It is not. It is my understanding it is a year of college to work with the college you attend. We shall have Connie (longingtoBatDisney) fill us in. Her daughter had been accepted but couldn't do it. I know Madison said it was a very hard year and as you can see there weren't many graduates. I know she worked at Epcot, got room and board and had classes. Wish I could go.
