Ok, maybe I have not searched the boards as good as I should have. Yet I do not seem to find too much on the Rain Forest Cafe (AK). We have an ADR for lunch there for our upcoming trip (30 days and counting down! :cool1: ) Any entree suggestions? Tips on the "best" table? I have waited soooooo long for this trip-I can not beleive I have gotten to the 30 day mark! :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

Not very exotic, I know, but I LOVE the Brave New World pizza. It's the best barbeque chicken pizza I've ever tasted! I've also always wanted to try the Volcano dessert (a huge mound of chocolate cake, with melted fudge and carmel inside), but I just cannot justify paying $12.99 for it when there's only two of us and we couldn't possibly finish it all. If I ever go with a larger group who can all share it, I'll definitely be getting one! :p

You will find many people on boards like this who look down thier noses at RFC. Sometimes it's because they have an RFC in thier home town and see it as nothing special, sometimes it's because RFC is not owned or operated by Disney and they consider anything non-Disney to be inherently inferior, sometimes it's because they have tried the RFC at Downtown Disney and had a bad experience.

Personally, I love RFC, although I have stopped eating at the DD location because it is always crowded and the service and quality are inferior to the AK location.

The chicken quesadillas are one of my favorite entrees, but I also love the Awsome Appetizer Adventure, which is so good and so large that it makes a great entree as well.

I have no advice for you on tables; I have sat in a different place each time.

My favorite is the turkey wrap, the best I have ever had. My husband and son swear by the pot roast. We have the free dining, but are going to the RFC anyway because my son insists!

When we went about 1 1/2 yrs. ago, we had to wait over an hour for our table - even though we had PS. The place was packed - so at that time, we didn't get any type of seating requests. You just say wherever. Our server was a very nice young woman, but I just felt very rushed for some reason. I hadn't even cut my chicken yet and was being asked how was my lunch. I just remember it being very LOUD. I thought that since our ressies were for 2:00 (we got in at 3:00) it wouldn't be too crowded. I guess everyone else had the same idea.

It's a fun place to eat just to see what everyone's talking about and what goes on inside w/the animals. We sat right next to the elephant. Have a wonderful vacation!!

Do you make an ADR for Rainforest Cafe in AK through Disney or do you need to contact them directly?

We too, really enjoy going to the RFC at both the AK and DTD. In fact, we went to both during our trip earlier this month.

We enjoy the turkey wrap and their salads. Also, as others have said....save room for the VOLCANO! :hyper:

We all love the RFC. The one at AK does seem less crowded. The Brave New World BBQ pizza is my favorite. :earsboy: :earsgirl: :earsgirl:

You can make a ressie for either Disney location of RFD through the Disney Dining line.

It's not always nessesary to have a ressie, though. Most people don't, although wait times at the Downtown Disney location for walk-ups can be in excess of 1 hour. Wait times at the AK location for walk-ups are always much shorter; there are times when you can get into the AK location in five minutes or less for lunch!

I ordered the appetizer platter, rather than an entree here. It was FABULOUS!!! Crab dip and chips, the BEST coconut chicken and sauce, Southwestern eggrolls, and calamari... YUM! (Ut was HUGE, and I knew there was no way to finish it, even with help ;o) I can't really remember what my family had......

We arrived approx 3 PM Were seated in 10 minuted (no AR) in the Elephant room. I don't there there is a bad table there. You can see all the action from just about any seat - now some seats are a bit more noisy than others. We (DH and me) had the cobb salad. It is a very large portion. The kids both ordered the popcorn shrimp and chicken fingers. We have a RFC that we go to when visiting Disneyland and have also been to the ones in Las Vegas several times and San Francisco. The food is always consistant (good) and I have the Safari card which allows us to get an appetizer for free each visit. The only thing I didn't like (or didn't check into) prior to this visit was we were not able to use our Disney Rewards card to pay for the meal. All our meals this year at Disney were paid for using this card as we had charged lots prior to this trip to get the points/dollars. I presented the card to our server and then he came back and said they didn't take this card. :crazy2:
We paid using a regular credit card and will have to remember this for the next trip. We go back each Disney visit. It is a fun place to visit. Never have room for the dessert though.

We always go to the RFC and were so happy when they opened the one at AK. The one at Marketplace was so crowded. The first time we went, they sat us in the bar area and we promptly asked to be moved to a "room". We couldn't see anything from the bar area. I didn't wait for an hour to sit at a regular booth!! They did move us to much better seats. We've never had a bad meal and we will definitely go again this year. I can't remember exactly what we have eaten there but never had any complaints. Have never tried to the volcano but putting that on our to do list!!

We love RFC and have the Safari Club card. We go at least once every time we are at WDW. The RFC at AK even serves breakfast! I hope you enjoy it. Maggie

Well I guess I'm one of those that looks down their nose at RFC. No, I don't have one nearby. And I do eat at non-Disney places when visiting WDW. But RFC just doesn't do it for me.

My experiences: The wait to be seated is terrible - even with "reservations". The food is OK The service is typically slow and inattentive. The surroundings are interesting but loud, which really wears on you as the meal drags on.

We also waited a very long time to be seated. It was so very busy and loud but we did expect this. The probelm we had was getting hold of your server if you wanted anything, he seemed to disapear once he bought over our main course and then took us ages to get more drinks. Reasonable food though, perhaps go again for entertainment value!

Does anyone know hat items have a surcharge on them if you are using the Dining Plan?

I do not think that the Rainforest participates in the dining plan.

DH and I make a point to eat here once every trip. The atmosphere is really fun. I got the coconut shrimp dinner last time and DH had the Mojo ribs. Both were delicious!
