Quick weekend at DL - some ?s

Hi there!
My parents just announced that they are going to take a quick trip to DL in late July after a conference my dad is attending in LA. This will be their first Disney trip without the kids and grandkids!

I'm helping them plan, but haven't been to DL since 2000, and never in the summer.

They will be doing parks all day Saturday, Sunday and Monday morning. They realize they'll hit crowds, but from the veterans, is their a preference between DL and DCA on Saturday or Sunday? Which park should they attempt on which day?

Also, they're staying at PPH, is walking the only means of transportation from this hotel?

It used to be DL would be best on Saturdays and DCA on Sundays were best since So Cal passholders have that as a blockout day and were most likely to pick DL over DCA (or at least spend the bulk of their time there), but with the TOT open, DCA is getting more crowded. It may not matter at this point which day they pick. I know to DCA walking is the quickest route from the PPH (it has it's own entrance), but I'm not sure about whether there is transportation at least between the PPH and DTD where they could pick up the monorail to go into DL. I think at one point there was, but I'm not sure now.

I heard that if you ask for a ride from PPH they will give you a lift in a "golf cart" type car to either DTD or GCH(for entry to DCA). Of course they have their own private entrance into DCA if they wish to use it.

Yes there is a large golf cart they will transport guests to the monorail station and pick you up if you call. Just ask at the guest services desk in the lobby. If walking to DL, cut through the Grands lobby, it saves about 5 min.
