My SIL is going to WDW next week and told me today she hasn't even booked a hotel yet. She's not looking for anything fancy, just clean, and close to WDW. She would like to pay under $50 per night. Any suggestions?

Well in the under $50 per night price range, you certainly take the chance of getting something very worn and dank, possibly even yucky. If she really needs to stay in the $50 per night price range, try Priceline or Hotwire. She'll get a better value for the money than if she'd book outright with the hotel or travel agent. You just won't know what you're getting until you've paid for it. Mary, at mousesavers.com, offers some advice for Priceline... bid in the $35 - $50 price range for a 2.5 to 3.0 star hotel.

I checked HotelKingdom.com, and they are offering a 1 bedroom condo at Cypress Pointe Grand Villas for $593 per week, including tax. That is $85 per night total which is an amazing value for this beautiful resort. It includes a kitchen and nearly all of the TripAdvisor reviews gave it 4/5 to 5/5. So if she is willing to spring for more, this would be a fantastic place to stay! In comparison, the $55 per night rate for a very basic motel is $62 including tax. So if she's willing to do some meals in the room, she'll make up the $23 per night price difference pretty quickly.

Good Luck!

I agree with the previous poster, I would be very careful booking anything $50.00 or less. That being said, I would suggest going to the Kissimmee/St. Cloud website. www.flakiss.com. Many folks don't know that Kissimmee is actually closer to WDW than Orlando is. Hwy. 192 a/k/a West Irlo Bronson has oodles and oodles of great priced accommodations.

Just make sure that she doesn't book a stay at the Suites at Old Town. That place is a dump!

Has anyone ever stayed at the Ramada Plaza Orlando? I booked it thru Orbitz so Im kinda stuck with it, wondering how bad a 3 star hotel could be?

She is on a VERY limited budget so it has to be $50 or less. This trip came up last minute. Thanks for the responses.

would she be willing to do a timeshare deal? most of the time you can get a really good deal on a room plus some extras for about that price. If she has 90 minutes to spare, it maybe worth it to her.

There are LOTS of hotels under $50, I dont see the problem. Someone else mentioned Ho Jos at the Maingate. Tripadvisor gives it pretty good ratings. There are some even cheaper. The one I mentioned above I booked when Orbitz had a $50 off sale, got 3 nights for less than $90 (including tax).

Pull up almost any site, there are plenty of choices under $50 a night off site. Orlando is a cheap city to stay in. I think I saw another hotel deal for money off your booking on another online site yesterday too.

Myself I would only go to Priceline and all these other ways if it was a expensive city like Miami or Ft. Lauderdale, especially during the winter or NYC or Calif etc. There are plenty of decent places under $50 to stay at.

Hotwire has a 2.5* hotel at Disney's Main Gate - Champions Gate for $36/night plus tax.
