Quick service lunch options at Boardwalk Inn? (any flat bread pizza?)

Hi all,

We will be staying at BWV next month, and due to the heat we plan on staying at the pool a lot. I was wondering what lunch options are close to the pool. We have stayed at WLV the past two summers where I would grab lunch for the kids at Roaring Forks quick service - we all loved the flatbread pizzas. Do they have anything like that - something where I can walk and grab lunch for them while DH can stay with them in the pool? My favorite lunch was the flatbread pizzas, my kids enjoyed those too but will also eat chicken fingers, fries, etc.

Thanks, Marina

Are you staying in the Inn or the Villas? You say both. If in the Villas, I would have quick and easy lunch makings in my kitchen/kitchenette for the kids.
You can get regular pizza at the Boardwalk Pizza window and the Boardwalk Bakery has an assortment of lunch sandwiches.
There is a QS at the Swan/Dolphine - Piccabu I think. And there are a few choices at the Marketplace at the YC/BC.
The Boardwalk area is known to not have a lot of QS options like other resort areas.
Good Luck

If you're looking for a quick lunch near the main pool, the Boardwalk Pizza window is convenient. One of the benefits of the pizza window is the ability to order an entire pizza at a relatively (meaning, for Disney) reasonable price. Individual pizza slices are also available. Since you mentioned chicken nuggets, etc., Boardwalk to Go has an extensive "fun food" menu: chicken nuggets, hot dogs, hamburgers, fries, wings, mozzarella sticks, grilled chicken sandwich, breaded chicken sandwich, meatball sandwich, corndogs, pulled pork sandwich, fries, onion rings, etc. Boardwalk Bakery has sandwiches, soup, salad and kids' items including mac and cheese, turkey sandwiches and ham and cheese sandwiches. So while Boardwalk doesn't offer a lot of seating space for CS, we feel like the selection of to-go lunch items is quite extensive. If you would like to venture further (as in 10 minute walk) quick service is also available at Beach Club Marketplace at BC, Hurricane Hanna's Grill at BC/YC and Picabu at the Dolphin.

From our perspective (which is not common on these boards) the Epcot area has great CS options. While most locations lack the typical central, indoor seating, the variety of options within a 10-minute walk around Crescent Lake is pretty extensive compared with most CS locations at other resorts. And for those with a little more time and park tickets, the quick service in World Showcase (particularly Les Halles in France) is great. Our next trip is for Marathon Weekend in January and I'm running the Dopey. As a result, we're doing more CS because it's tough to know whether I'll be up for lunch ADRs every day. One of the reasons we're staying at BWI is all of the quick service options in the Epcot resort area.

P.S. If you're looking for flat bread pizza specifically, rather than regular pizza, the Beach Club Marketplace offers those.

Hi,

We are staying at BWV but are on the deluxe dining plan so I won't be making lunch. I've never heard of Boardwalk to Go - where is that located?

I'll have to check to see if Picabu is on the Disney dining plan

I always liked the marketplace at BC, although it will probably take me 30 minutes to bring lunch back with the walk back and forth- it's a 10 minute walk from BW to BC, correct?

I think @pixarmom has summed it up very well. My perspective is different because we use the DDP & lots of those choices do not accept QS credits. If you are paying OOP her summary is great.
Good Luck
ETA. We were posting at the same time :-) Boardwalk to go & Swan Dolphin restaurants do not take DDP Credits
Yes it is a 10 minute walk to and from BC

Argh! The dining plan - we used it years ago and have not since, so I always forget about that. Hopefully raises a great point - CS would be a lot more difficult in the Epcot area if you need to use those credits. Oceanmarina, if you decide on OOP on lunch, Boardwalk to Go is located right on the Boardwalk, front and center. So like a 2-minute walk from the main pool. Just cross the courtyard and you're there!

uuug you are right, the To-Go cart on the Boardwalk (which had great lunch options) is not on the DDP

Well looks like i'm going to be burning off a lot of calories walking to marketplace at the Beach Club in the blistering heat.

Do you think they offer paper shopping bags so I can carry everything back to the pool at boardwalk? (i'll be getting lunch for the 4 of us while they frolic in the pool)

It's been a while since I've needed a bag with handles for BC Marketplace carry out. But the last time I asked for this, they provided a very nice-sized paper bag with handles and packaged everything up for me.

It looks like the Boardwalk Pizza Window and Boardwalk Bakery accept DDP. If running out of the pool area on a hot day, I'd probably opt for one of those. If the weather isn't terrible, I'd go over to BC Marketplace or Hurricane Hanna's. Looks like Hurricane Hanna's also accepts the dining plan and they have kids' meals (chicken nuggets, grilled chicken, cheeseburger, turkey sandwich) in a fun beach pail and the regular menu includes pulled pork sandwiches, super yummy burgers, grilled chicken sandwiches, seafood roll, a veggie flatbread and two different kinds of salads.

Great thanks. I know they had those paper bags over at roaring forks, so if they are the same ones i'm thinking of, that will be great. Hurrican Hanna's will be a good option too

we had a lot of trouble when we stayed at BWV. We walked over to grab stuff at the Beach Club Marketplace and Hurricane Hannahs. Hurricane Hannahs has chicken strips. There is the Boardwalk pizza window but it was ok. There are a few options at the pool as well.

Yep, sounds like i'll be doing a lot of extra walking to the BC to pick up lunch! Too bad they don't have a quick service. That was the only thing I did not like about Kidani, I had to treck over to Jambo house to get quick service.

I don't think anybody mentioned Leaping Horse Libations, which I believe is the pool bar at the BoardWalk. It has this note on the AllEars menu page:

Grab & go type items are available from the bartender. "Hot" items are available through private dining and are marked below. Order the items using the phone provided at the bar. Your order will be delivered to the pool. A $3.00 delivery charge and an 18% service charge will be added to all private dining orders.

when we stayed at the BWV we found food options were limited :( walking over to BC was a pain while the family was in the pool. We tried to Pizza window and found it was not great.
