Hi Everyone

Can anyone recommend a good CS meal in DHS? On our next trip we plan on visiting the Studios a few times & will probably do Starring Rolls but need somewhere else.

Thanks
Dee

We enjoyed the pretzel dogs and sausage rolls at Min and Bill's Dockside. If you're on the QS, you can even get a milkshake to go with it. If you have picky kids, though, beware...there is mustard in the pretzel dogs.

Haven't found a CS restaurant I like at DHS yet - we usually just get a quick snack at Starring Rolls, or plan to eat somewhere else (at another park).

We always end up eating at Pizza Planet. Its nice to be able to sit in the air conditioning and relax a bit. And we always pile into the photo booth to have our pictures taken. The pizza is pretty good (the kids love it) and it comes with a salad if you are an adult on the DDP. Best pizza in the world, no. But decent. And its right across from Muppets 3-D movie and near the restrooms.:3dglasses

We don't love any CS at DHS. But the past few times we've been, we have eaten at the Backlot. They have some different choices then the regular burgers and chicken nuggets. They have grilled chicken which is good.

My family agrees exactly with your sentiments. Backlot Express is probably the best of a group of mediocre options. There is a grilled turkey and cheese sandwich with roasted red peppers that at least breaks the monotony of chicken nuggets and hamburgers.

But the dearth of counter service locations in the Studios has become a legitimate problem. It has reached the point that my family literally avoids eating lunch in the park, because most of the fare is so unappetizing. The food at ABC Commissary is downright inedible.

I have heard the sandwiches at Starring Rolls are quite good, but seating there is limited, and the line is always incredibly long at mealtime compared to the more traditional restaurants. We may have to brave the wait and try it next time.

Good luck! If we aren't there for dinner, we eat elsewhere! Disney really needs to dedicate some attention to DHS as far as rides and CS. Avoid ABC Comm at all cost.

If you held a gun to my head I would pick Backlot or Pizza Planet( only cause kids like it so much) otherwise I would go hungry til I got back to the resort or til I could hit a TS somewhere. Well I guess I would get an ice cream or something, hard to screw those up.

My kids and family love Pizza Planet! We ALWAYS eat there once or twice while in DHS...we also like the Backlot area! Pizza Planet is fun and my kiddos LOVE LOVE it!

It's not CS, but if you are paying OOP, Sci Fi is comperable in cost to CS, and is a nice break from the heat!

I was looking at the menu for the Backlot Express on allears and apparently they changed the menu since I've been there o not grilled chicken and they have more of the usual stuff. Sorry!

Has anyone tried the chicken and ribs with the new menu Fairfax Fare? I wonder if that's a good option and if the ribs are similar to those at Flame Tree in AK. The downside would be no a/c while eating, which is the only reason we hit ABC Commissary most of the time while at Studios.

My recommendation is when you see the entrance sign to the ABC Commissary, turn around immediately and run, not walk as far from that place as possible. This has to be the worst place in all of WDW and one of the worst places I've ever been to in my life. The overwelming opinion of this place here on the DIS will reflect this opinion.

If you are near the Tower of Terror try the "Fairfax Fare" walk up CS if you get the 1/2 Slab of St Louis Ribs - with baked beans and coleslaw make sure to grab a BUNCH of napkins

As pixiedust34 said, no AC it's outside, although you can get shade with umbrellas on the tables

Jared, I think I could have written that verbatim! Reflects my sentiments exactly. I'd rather try to go to Starring Rolls multiple times than any other option any time.

I would recommend the ABC Commissary.

:scared1: Hope you're kidding.

I only went there in December because the group of people I was with were going there. I ordered the least objectionable thing I could think of. A burger. They managed to make the burger as blah as possible. That experience reminded me of why I avoided the ABC Commissary since my first visit to that park in 1992.

I would rather go out the exit, walk or take the boat to the Dolphin and eat at Picabu. I had a really good chicken pot pie there a few years ago. :thumbsup2
