Quick question re: Contacting a guide before touring

Hello! I just have a quick question, that I think will have a simple answer :) I have read several times about the "time frame" you are given on certain incentives once you take a guided tour. I know that sometimes that 3-day period has been extended, etc but I'd rather not take any chances or have to mess with haggling with anyone ;).

My DH and I are planning on taking a DVC tour next week when we return from a cruise and are in the area. We are closing on a house, etc when we get home so we will not be purchasing on the spot. Very likely, however, we will purchase sometime in June.

I have also read however, that if you contact a guide BEFORE the tour, then that 3-day window thing doesn't apply. So what all does this entail? I'm smack in the middle of a rediculously hectic week, so I can't spend a lot of time on the phone. Also, I don't want to have to commit to anything, have a credit check run, etc (d/t the closing... I'm a bit paranoid about it, so I don't even want a soft check even though I know that would be practically harmless  ). Is there any of this (or a deposit, etc) involved just to get hooked up with a guide prior to our tour and avoid any contingencies?

Thanks in advance!

A phone call to a guide will take you just a couple of minutes. Tell him/her exactly what you want and what you are doing. Tell them no matter what you are not making a decision right now. Don't sign anything and they can't do a credit check.

You want to call DVC member services and ask for a guide to be assigned to you. My guide is Byron. He is very good and very low pressure. If you talk to Byron, tell him Doug Wolfe in Illinois sent you! :teeth:
