Quick Question about Autograph Hat

I'm hoping some of you DISers might know what works...

I bought DS5 a white hat to have the characters sign. Do I use a permenant marker or a fabric marker?

Will this work ok??

We didn't do the hat but we did do the T-shirt. We used sharpie markers and they looked great, until we washed them. I decided that if we ever do a shirt again I would use fabric markers. Just FYI
